Girlfriend Convinces Boyfriend To Commit Suicide

Depression is a serious mental illness that affects around one million teenagers yearly. Unfortunately, if the person affected does not receive proper treatment or support, they sometimes turn to self-harming behavior such as suicide. Suicide is one of the top leading causes of death for children ages 10-24.

Usually when someone in your life is hurting and suffering, you would do anything in your power to get them help and make them feel like their best self. Seeking counseling and medical help are always great options. Sometimes we don't even know that our loved ones are suffering or need help. However, teenager Michelle Carter took a different approach when she found out her boyfriend was not only depressed, but suicidal.

Michelle Carter’s boyfriend, Conrad Roy, suffered from depression and turned to his girlfriend for guidance. Most girlfriends, claiming to love their boyfriend, would have helped him seek the help he needed. Michelle, instead, allegedly pressured her boyfriend to commit suicide. 4,600 teen lives are taken yearly due to suicide, and thanks to Michelle, Conrad adds to the statistic.

Roy was afraid of death, who wouldn’t be? Never fear, his loving girlfriend helped him overcome that. She counseled him, saying in a text message, “You’re finally going to be happy in heaven. No more pain. No more bad thoughts and worries. You’ll be free.” Wow, how sweet.

Not only did Carter help Roy overcome his fear of death, she helped him plan his demise. From researching about CO2, where to buy the generator, and helped him plan a date and time. When Roy started to back out, Carter allegedly became frustrated and disappointed that he didn't want to kill himself. She told him he just needed to get it over with or else she was going to have to find help to assist in his death.

The couple’s text message exchanges have been released in court documents, if you so wish to read the twisted exchange yourself. Here are a few messages Carter sent Roy that stood out,“You can’t keep pushing it off,” “There is no point in waiting anymore.”

What does Carter gain from this? Carrying the title of a widowed girlfriend around doesn't give you a leg up in life, just the public's sympathy votes. Sympathy and attention from loved ones only last for so long, then what?

Their texts turned from conversations to Carter drilling Roy about when he was going to commit suicide, and if he had bought the generator yet. When asked how her day was, she would respond with questions regarding his suicide plan.

Michelle said she would take care of Roy’s family, and they would not be sad, because they would have seen his death coming. Because that is what all good girlfriends do.

Michelle tried to cover up her sick and twisted actions by saying that she also was planning to commit suicide. So they could die and go to heaven together, the modern day Romeo and Juliet. How romantic?

I have a hunch that Michelle Carter is going to be single for a very long time.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
