Gifts That Every ASU Student Wants This Year

While every year brings new products that many students want, there are a few things that specifically ASU students want to find under their tree.

Gifts That Every ASU Student Wants This Year

For many parents, having their child go through their first semester of college is hard when it comes to the holidays. For me, I didn't even get to spend Thanksgiving at home thanks to ridiculously high flight pricing. But gift giving is a whole other problem. Usually, parents seem to get a good idea about what their kids want because they spend every day with them but when your kid grows up and heads to college, you might be left in the dark with ideas. That's why I created this gift guide, and let me tell you, every ASU student will want pretty much all of these.

Air Pods

There is not a day that goes by where I don't see someone with air pods while walking to class. Not only are they just the thing to have this year, they actually are pretty neat and have some good uses. When you're working out and you don't want to be bothered with all the chords from regular headphones and have no place to put your phone, or when you need to charge your phone, but also want to listen to music or watch a video and you have to pick which one is more important.

Electric Scooter

If you say the word "bird" or "lime" around any ASU student, they will NOT know what you're talking about. These electric scooters are everywhere and they're probably every student's favorite way of getting to class. Yes, they're fun, but not when you ride 10 in one day and then check your bank account. Getting an ASU student their own electric scooter is the perfect gift and would probably save them a lot of money in the future.

Hydro Flask

Being from the East Coast, when someone mentioned a hydro flask the first time I came to Arizona, I looked at them like they had four heads. I had no idea what a hydro flask was, I was only familiar with a Yeti. However, Hydro flasks are a very Arizona thing. Student's love to customize them with stickers, so that could be another additional gift to go along with it. These water bottles really do keep your water freezing cold for hours, which is especially useful when you're walking to class in 112-degree weather and really need a sip of water. They come in so many colors and sizes too.

Bluetooth Speaker

There is nothing more disappointing than when you want to go hang out with some friends in their dorm and you can hear nothing but the air conditioner. A Bluetooth speaker is a great way to add something else to a dorm room get together.

Money

When all else fails, you can never go wrong with a big stack of cash. Pretty much all college student's are broke so a little bit goes a loooong way this holiday season.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
