Super Bowl Sunday only just passed and America is fully sobering up from from the nation's most viewed annual sporting event. 1. The last five Super Bowls have been the five most watched telecasts in U.S. television history.
Prior to the Super Bowl claiming the title, TV Land's "M*A*S*H" finale in 1983 was the most watched telecast.
2. The median age of The Super Bowl viewer is 43.7 years old.
3. Females accounted for 46.8 percent of the Super Bowl audience last year.
4. In 2015, a 30-second advertisement during the Super Bowl cost around $4 million.
This year, that number is believed to have increased to around $4.5 million.
5. Tickets are being priced higher than ever before on the secondary market, with average prices per general ticket surpassing $6,000.
6. This will be the first Super Bowl held in the San Francisco Bay Area since Super Bowl XIX in 1985.
7. This year is the 50th edition of the Super Bowl, hence the nickname "Super Bowl 50."
8. Levi's Stadium, the site of the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, cost over $1 billion to build.
9. The Super Bowl 50 Host Committee has vowed that this year will be "the most giving Super Bowl ever."
They will dedicate 25 percent of all money they raise to philanthropic causes in the Bay Area.
10. In addition to the Vince Lombardi Trophy that all Super Bowl champions receive, the winner of Super Bowl 50 will also receive a 18-karat gold-plated "50."
Both trophies will be designed by Tiffany & Company, and each digit of the gold "50" will weigh 33 lbs.
