The Ultimate Workout

Trade in your tennis shoes for heels -- they tone your legs way better, and get your workout doing full hair and makeup.

Some people like to go frat hopping and drink, and some people also like to stay fit and work out. But, I have come to a conclusion -- frat hopping is a topnotch work out.

If I take the time to get ready, and actually do my hair and make up for once, I like to make the best of it and go to many different places. I have to make sure multiple people know I can look half way decent, because I usually look homeless when I go to class; I'm praying I don’t look like that when I meet my future husband. I want to show people I own more clothes than just Nike shorts, Converse and t-shirts. So, it’s an absolute must to go everywhere and show off.

Most frats are known for a certain characteristic. Maybe it is their special setups, their cute boys, the best music or the nicest house. You, pretty much, have to scope out all of them. Since they are separated into North and South Greek, it can be a pretty long walk.

When walking from house to house, and throughout North and South Greek, those steps add up. I spend more time walking to and from the frats, Thursday through Saturday, than I do walking to class Monday through Friday. Walking isn’t as good as running, but I think it adds up when you wear five-inch wedges. I often wake up with sore legs because I walked and stood so long in wedges. I’m not complaining. I heard heels tone your legs. So there’s your daily cardio and leg toning just from walking to the parties.

You have to walk up, like, six flights of stairs just to get to the party. I don’t know why every party has to be on the third floor and not the first. At the end of the night you could have walked up at least 21 flights of stairs. That’s an even better workout, right there.

Dancing burns calories, especially when they start playing songs that make you get low. I am not all about getting too low because after walking three miles and up eight flights of stairs, I may not get back up. But, I have seen some girls put in a week's worth of working out just from dancing with a guy. It was kind of scary, but she probably burned off her intake of calories from the night.

I heard something about how Tequila has some type of sugars that lower blood glucose levels and help lose weight. I don’t know if that’s completely true or not, but it works for me! Who knew you could take shots and burn calories?

When you have 500 people in a tiny bedroom, you sweat bullets just standing there. You don’t even have to move! It’s almost like a free trip to the sauna, but one that reeks of sweat and has people spraying beer on everyone.

Pass around the boxed wine or bottle of champagne a few times. That thing can get heavy. Especially after holding it up in the air for a while. That’ll give you a good arm work out. Next time you’re out drinking all of your allowed daily calories in alcohol, you won’t have to worry! You might actually be losing weight!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
