This is absolutely not sarcasm. Definitely not. When have I ever been sarcastic?
1. Eli Manning.
This legend of a quarterback has one of the best faces in the entire league. It brings me joy when he’s on the sidelines just gracing us all with those piercing baby blues. It’s too bad the Giants haven’t heralded him as their savior after those two (totally non-accidental) Super Bowl rings and rewarded him with an almost stupidly lucrative contract. Oh, they have? Must be because he’s really good at football:
2. They have a winning record this season!
Yes. This is not a joke. Forget those 6-10 and 7-9 teams from the past. This is different. That 5-4 record puts them at the very top of the NFC East! They might win that stellar division! Honestly, any team that can come out on top of the…improving? …Redskins are a playoff team in my book. Maybe even a Super Bowl contender.
3. They have an underdog mentality.
The Giants have always played from behind. Started from the bottom, now we here, am I right? Maybe it’s to their benefit that they’re never good enough to make the league take them seriously. It was truly inspiring to see a team that lost seven games in a row last season push back and get to 6-10. Notice them, NFL, because they’re coming for you.
4. Tom Coughlin.
Always listen to your elders, kids. Does it work out for the Giants? …Sometimes!!!! I mean, they haven’t made the playoffs since 2011– since then, approximately 22 coaches have been fired from teams that fared slightly, if not much better – but you know what? I’m glad that the crushing lack of success he’s had prior to and immediately following each of their Super Bowl victories haven’t fooled the Giants. No, they’re smart enough to stick it out with him. At worst, he’s a cute old man who tries his best and is benevolent most of the time.
5. They have a chance to beat teams with perfect records.
Because, let’s face it, any team has a chance to beat any team. Even if the odds are slim enough to make you think that the chance is nonexistent. Like, slim enough so that you can barely see Eli Manning’s stunning face through the crack.
Good luck against the Patriots, guys. We’ll know the results by the time this article is published, so I can’t make any bold predictions, but maybe you’ll get lucky and only lose by a touchdown! Crazier things have happened. Yeah, you beat us in the Super Bowl. We won last year. Get over it. Maybe this picture will help you to do so:
