The end of December represents many things--the holidays, the end of the year, winter and most importantly, the end of the semester. When the semester is finally over a sense of pure relief is felt. Like all your troubles have been temporary solved. This sense of peace can be followed by these 8 stages.
1. Denial
It feels like the moment you have been waiting for has finally come. You have been studying for about three months. Writing endless papers and memorizing complicated textbooks. Making those three months seem like an eternity. And now it is finally over, only until February of course.
2. Laziness
After the last final, you usually spend the day catching up on your sleep. You also watch any missed episodes of your favorite shows and discover new series. And then proceed to mysteriously finish 2 seasons of that series. You can just relax without feeling guilty.
3. Celebration
This is when you finally get up from your slump and celebrate. You go all out and try to have the most fun over. You plan extravagant trips and parties with your friends. Which usually just ends up a day to the movies.
4. Anticipation
At this stage, you are really thinking about your grades. You keep checking the schools website at least three times a day. At first you think you do not care about the outcome because you did the best you can.
5. Overthinking
But then again these grades might have an effect on your future. So, you start stressing out. You suddenly became a math wizard and try to calculate your grades and GPA. You also become a psychic and add on the grades for your future semester. You also overthink the reasons as to why your professors have not put up your grades.
6. Disappointment
And then you finally see your grades and one of them is unexpected. So, you feel like you have betrayed yourself. You might have overlooked this class because it was 'easy' or just an elective. And you end up feeling bad because you did not give it the attention that it needed.
7. Encouragement
But all of your other grades were really good. So, you give yourself a pat on the back because you are proud of yourself.
8. Realization
Finally, you cannot believe that you are going to put yourself through that again the next semester. You realize that even though college is tiresome, you are studying the things you are passionate about.
When the semester is finally over, you might experience these stages. It feels good to enjoy the vacation, but waiting for grades might be stressful. However, in the end, all that matters is that you have done your best.
