Dearest seniors,
The time we have all been dreading is now upon us. We celebrated your senior day last week. I thought that was hard enough but by the time this article is published and released, we will be in the last week of our lacrosse season. This means that I only have one more week to play with you, just two more 60 minute games and less than three weeks until all of you graduate and you disperse yourselves around the world.
We all know that teammates are great, but in my opinion, college teammates are even better. College teammates know the passion that lies behind playing the same beloved sport for over 14 years, we can feel the chemistry that has been made and we have lived in the atmosphere of playing while we have all created our home away from home.
It is so crazy to think that all of you were once nothing but strangers to us. Complete strangers at that, who hosted and welcomed the rest of us on our recruiting trips here. To think that in some phenomenon, all of us chose the same journey at this college for whatever personal reasons and had the wonderful opportunity to grow so closely to one another is amazing.
I think I can speak for the team when I thank you for always looking out for everyone and always being so levelheaded with the rest of us. Thank you for making everyone feel so welcomed their freshman year and for taking the reigns whenever something got a little out of hand.
I hate that I am already writing this letter to all of you, it's so unbelievable to me how quickly our time together has passed by. I cannot begin to tell you how much everyone is going to miss your presence next year, and in many years to come.
In some significant way, each of you have helped me grow and have shaped me into the player and person that I am today. There is no denying that I would not be the same without each and every one of you. You have taught me how to be a friend who is truthful and loving, how to always apply myself and work my ass off, and to never settle for anything that I don't deserve. You have always had my back when I have been down or needed it most, and at times I don't think I could've pushed through my struggles without your leadership and support. All of you do everything so selflessly, and I admire how you constantly put the team before yourselves.
Our friendship is something that I could not and will never doubt, and I know that wherever we end up we will never drift apart. Though almost all of you are moving to a different state, or venturing as far as France and Australia, I will always support what you do in your future 100 percent.
You will do the most amazing things after school, and I know you will end up in the most amazing places with plentiful opportunities. I wish you all the best, and hope that you experience everything you've ever dreamed of.
With all my love,
Haleigh
