Being unemployed sucks. Not earning enough money while employed sucks. Just last year, Christmas Eve to be exact, I was laid off from my employment at a retail establishment that was going out of business. It was a shock to all associates because even though we knew the company was going under, we were told that we'd have at least two more months. At first I was excited about having free time and not having to worry about what days I'm free and what days between work and school that I could actually sleep in.
I was unemployed for a good while and I loved every second of my freedom. I had saved up my money, but I realized that I was on a bad path to dwindling down all of my savings. Not really wanting to go out and look for actual employment, I researched ways to make money from home, on my own time, and the way I wanted to.
My number 1 is consigning or reselling your clothing items.
Find out where your local consignment shop is, look into Plato's Closet, or use a reselling app. I personally use the apps Poshmark and Depop.
Babysit, pet-sit, house-sit, dog walk
Plain & simple: it's easy money. Sure, baby or pet-sitting have more responsibilities (living beings) but it's fun and it's easy.
Donate Plasma- this one is something I found from reading online.
Plasma is the colorless, fluid component to blood. Donating plasma helps people with blood disorders, autoimmune deficiency disorders, lung disease, liver disease, and something called hyperimmuneglobulins which is a condition when two types of blood within one body are incompatible (pregnant women, organ transplants) and can lead to death.
It's also possible to research places that compensate full blood donations.
Have a hobby? Start a small business!
You never know when a niche will become popular.
Take a temp job!
Search for temporary jobs in your area here.
Take paid surveys online
This isn't something I've ever done, but if you search "ways to make fast cash" online, this suggestion will inevitably pop up.
Try freelancing: blogging, writing, makeup, photography contest
I troll the web for writing inquiries, photography contests, and companies looking for a blogger. Then I'll shoot them an email with some content or writing samples.
Be an extra on a film set
I signed up for a casting website years ago and I get emails about movies, commercials, or photo shoots in my area looking for talent...get ready for your closeup!
Another (maybe less encouraged) suggestion would be to look on Craigslist.
Sure, it has a reputation for being really shady, but a lot of indie films, agencies, up and coming musicians post tons of different listings online. You can make cash from responding to a listing of someone needing help to move, or you can sell furniture or electronics.
