As college students, we usually run on coffee. Most of us rely on coffee to keep us awake and energized for the day. Whether it is iced or hot, coffee can totally change your mood.
While Starbucks has some great menu selections, I personally prefer Dunkin Donuts for many reasons.
1. Price
You can definitely get your money's worth at Dunkin. Five dollars can buy you more at Dunkin than it can at Starbucks. A large latte at Dunkin can retail at $3.69, while at Starbucks it would cost you about $4.32.
2. Hot Chocolate
This could all just be a personal preference but I really do not like the hot chocolate at Starbucks. In my opinion their hot chocolate tastes really bitter. Dunkin offers a wide selection of hot chocolate flavors such as; smores, mint, and salted caramel.Dunkin even has a frozen hot chocolate!
3. DD Perks
There are so many deals you can get when you join the DD perk program. During the football season, Dunkin would offer $ .25 medium hot or iced coffees on Mondays, when the Jets or Giants won on Sundays. In some other states they were offered free medium hot or iced coffees. Although Starbucks has a reward program, I have never really heard them give a reward where the coffees retail for $.25.
4. Donuts and Munchkins
What more is there to say? If you want to stop for a quick treat with your coffee Dunkin is the place to go.
5. Baskin Robbins
If you want a coffee and your younger sibling wants an ice cream cone you can kill two birds with one stone since the two franchises have many combined locations.
6. Coffee Flavors
While Starbucks have some great flavors, I think Dunkin trumps them in this department. Over the summer, Dunkin will put out ice cream flavored coffee and lattes such as; Butter Pecan, Cookie Dough Swirl (the best), and Jamoca Almond Fudge.
7. The Menu
Starbucks is more of a drink place, while they do have some sandwiches and pastries, Dunkin has a wide selection of breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, and bakery items. They also have original drinks such as the Dunkaccino which is hot chocolate and coffee combined. They also have coolatas which are ice blended beverages that you can get in practically any flavor (strawberry, vanilla bean, orange, coffee). Plus their hash browns are probably the best I have ever had.
