Well, this is it. By the time you read this, it's Obama's last week as being President. Friday, January 20th, is the day of Trump's inauguration.
I hate Trump. I've written a few articles about my dislike for the man. Everyone who knows me is well aware that I was not happy with the election results. But after watching Obama's farewell address, Michelle Obama's last speech, and Biden receiving the (much deserved) Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, I'm realizing how much I"m going to miss the entire Obama administration.
I could go on for paragraphs about how perfect they all were, but I'll sum it up by saying they changed the world. They told a broken nation "yes we can", and showed us that we could. They all worked until the very last moment to continue making change.
And now they're leaving, leaving us. We're transitioning to a leader that ran a campaign based on hate, and threatens to dismantle everything that was built over the years. We begged for them to come back, chanting "four more years" or imploring Michelle to run in 2020 (which I still highkey want).
What I realized is the Obama administration didn't dedicate 8 years of their lives forcing a kicking and screaming nation to change, to have us sit back on our asses and whine.
From day one, it was never what Obama could do, it was what America could do. His campaign slogan was "yes we can" because Obama believed in what the American people could do. He believed in us, and now it's our time to prove that he was right.

When Obama took on the role as president he was faced with a seemingly impossible task. The highest rates of unemployment following a recession and the lowest morale America had seen in a while. No one thought he could do it, but he did.
Well guess what? This is our impossible situation. But instead of having someone else fix it for us, we need to clean up the mess that we created.
Don't be afraid. Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered. Empower yourselves with a good education, then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of your boundless promise. Lead by example with hope, never fear. (Michelle Obama, final speech as FLOTUS)
Demand change, spread love, seek justice, and share knowledge. If you believed in the Obama's then it's high-time we believe in ourselves. It's not going to easy, but we have to save the country now (I understand I may be slightly overdramatic but I'm really not ready to see what Trump could do y'all).
So to the entire Obama administration: thank you. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, your poise and grace, the love and kindness you showed to all of us. Thank you for all that you did, and all you may do in the future. I hope we make you proud.
