The Donald Trump Foundation is under fire again this week when reports came out that the foundation lacks the proper paperwork required for them to solicit money. According to the New York State law where the Donald Trump foundation is headed, any charity that solicits more than 25 thousand dollars a year, must obtain a special kind of registration before collecting money. If The Trump Foundation is found guilty of raising money in violation of the law, the foundation will be forced to stop raising money immediately, and Trump would be forced to return the money his foundation has already raised.
However, this is not the first time that the Donald Trump foundation has been under fire. Recently the Donald Trump Foundation took heat after it was uncovered that he had been using the money donated to his charity in order to buy himself personal items. Some of these items include a signed Tim Tebow jersey and in 2007, a 20 thousand dollar, 6-foot portrait of himself.
Unfortunately, that's not the only time that Trump has abused his charities' money. In 2006 Trump used 120 thousand dollars of donated money to pay off a lawsuit from the town of Palm Beach, Florida. After refusing to take down a flagpole at his Mar-A-Largo Hotel, which doubled the size of the cities ordinance. To make it worse, Trump went on to charge the Palm Beach Police Department 500 thousand dollars, in order for them to use the ballroom in the hotel for just two events.
As much as we wish that a man running for political office isn't capable of committing such selfish acts, without the release of his tax returns, there’s no way to prove these claims false. The easy solution would be for Mr. Trump to release his tax returns, but by doing that he may actually reveal that he personally has not donated money to charity since 2008, the time of his last on record donation. Although his campaign claims that Trump has personally donated over 100 million dollars to charity, journalists have only been able to find 10 thousand dollars of that money.
Many could argue that at the end of the day, it is Trump's money, and he can do what he wants with it. Sadly, doing what he wants with it includes not paying the “Freedom Girls” who sang for him at his rally in Pensacola, FL earlier this year. In direct relation to this the Freedom Girls are now suing Donald Trump.
In a nutshell, presidential candidate Donald Trump is being sued by children for refusing to pay them but has no problem spending other people’s money on a signed Tim Tebow jersey. A man who, may I remind you, no longer even plays the same sport. All this together just shows what a wonderful and smart businessman Mr. Trump isn't.
