Have you ever looked into your dog's eyes and just felt some kind of emotional connection?
If you know a dog's love, then you know what I'm talking about.
Isn't it cool to know that when you walk through the door there will be someone there that is EXTREMELY excited to see you?
Whether your dog jumps on you from the minute you come in, or is excitedly barking from a kennel, their favorite thing is when you come home.
A dog's love is like no other. You, as their owner, are their entire world. You are the hand that feeds them, the buddy they can always count on if they want to play, and the lap on which they rest their head.
If you've ever been sad around your dog, they have most likely sympathized right there with you. Maybe they even brought you their favorite toy or curled up beside you in effort to comfort or console you.
What did we do to deserve such selfless, loving creatures?
Ever been depressed or had anxiety? Pet a dog! Instant happiness! Big brown eyes, a wet nose, and a long pink tongue can put a smile on anyone's face.
There's just something about a dog's loyalty and compassion that makes them the perfect human companion. If you've ever had a day where the only person you wanted to talk to was your dog, I'm right there with you!
It's always fun to have a conversation with your dog, telling him/her about your day, your life stressors, or just how much you love them. Even though you know they can't reply, they still understand every word you're saying (or at least we like to think so right?).
If you're anything like me you tell your dog you love him/her about 100 times a day. They always need some reassurance. Especially when we are able to tell how much they love us based on how they look at us.
Now that's some true love right there.
Question: How many of you let your dog sleep with you at night??
My heart is so happy just thinking about the fact that these weird little canine creatures feel safe enough when they're with us to completely and totally let their guard down for a good night's rest.
Personally, my dog thinks that my bed is her own and even pushes me over during the night. I will wake up and she will be taking up half of the bed. Oh well.
Another reason we don't deserve dogs is because they are such protectors. If there is a burglar outside, someone is in your driveway, the UPS guy stops by, or even if there's just some creepy squirrel outside the window, they will be sure to let you know! And if someone is being rough with you or teasing you, that sort of thing, you can count on your dog to interfere and stick up for you!
It is truly remarkable to think about how such small creatures get attached to us so quickly. They are capable of a massive amount of love. So whatever we did to deserve dogs, go us!, because we most certainly do not deserve their sweet faces and wet noses.
