I truly hope that everyone gets to experience the love of a dog, because it's unlike any love another person can give you ... ever. Unconditional, wet morning kisses, snuggle kind of love... Sure, humans can give all of those things too, but it's so much better when furry, pups do it.
They Will Always Love You Unconditionally
Dogs give off this unconditional love aroma everywhere they go. Dogs that are complete strangers, dogs that are yours, dogs that are your siblings. They just always want to love on you, with many wet nose kisses or gracious baths. They are always down to go grab a snack, or just cruise in the car and jam to music. My favorite is going to Starbucks to grab a green tea, and grabbing a 'pup-ichino' (whip cream in a cup). Pups are always down for Starbucks and they will love you so much for it. The excitement that they always have in their eyes is something that I wish humans could have, because I really do believe the world would be a better place.
They Will Always Keep Your Secrets
They don't care if so and so said this or that, but they will always listen. Dogs are great listeners. My late fur-niece, Lilian who spent some time with me after a nasty breakup kept all of my secrets that I shared, she knew my feelings more than any other person in the entire world. Emily Dickinson once said "Dog's are better than humans because they know but not tell" and boy, was she right!
They Will Always Know When Something Is Wrong
My fur-nephew Cooper for example, always knows when something is not OK. If I cough, he immediately assumes I am choking on the food he's not allowed to have. He's always there to make sure I am OK. Or if I am sad (or pretending to cry) he puts his nose up to my nose and then licks my cheek. Dogs know. They always know. My favorite memory of Cooper, is when I was packing my suitcase he knew I was about to leave. He raced out to my car, and hopped in the backseat like a perfect angel ready to ride the 2 hour drive home with me. How sweet can a pup get?
They Will Always Be Down For Exercise
You might not want to hit the gym, but goodness gracious, the dog is not going to walk itself! It's almost a blessing in disguise. Walking not only helps dogs health, but yours too! So turn off the Netflix, and leash up! You won't regret it, it's actually a lot of fun (but bring doggie bags, no one likes doggie do-do on their lawn ... pick it up).
They Will Never Be Judgmental
Dogs don't care if you like to eat a pint of gelato at 3 a.m., or care that you ate an entire package of oreo's in two nights. They will always be down for binge watching movies and snuggles. Dog's won't judge you for being super fit one day and a couch potato the next. They just want you to always have a smile on your face.
If you have a dog ... You will ALWAYS have a friend.
My childhood pup, the late Tinkerbell was never one for just laying around, unless it was sunbathing! So when my friends were over, or I was alone we would always sunbath. They are a part of the family and the best friends a person could ask for. Dog's are only a part of your life, but to them you are their entire life. They will always listen and care for you when you're sad. They are truly a man's best friend. The love between a human and a dog is beyond unexplainable.
If you have a dog in your life that you love, regardless of the ownership, love them unconditionally, because they are more than just 'animals.
Dedicated to: Cooper, Lillan, and Tinkerbell
