As I sit here looking around after the election I am distraught. No, I am not distraught due to who won the election, nor who lost it. To be honest I would have had anxiety either way the votes went. I am distraught with how I am seeing my fellow American brothers and sisters treating one another. In today's world so many people have resorted to violence, bullying, etc. The election is not the issue here. It is respect, it is how we are raised. So many Americans have resorted to violence, we do not respect others opinion and space anymore. Our ancestors worked extremely hard for our rights, and honestly in this day and age we take complete advantage of them. I know I am guilty of taking advantage of it, and if you say you don't then you are lying. We believe the world owes us everything and if someone is different than what we want, then let’s kick them down and start a riot. I have seen so much hatred the past few days from both parties it truly sickens me. I have seen so many people posting things about how they can treat women inappropriately, because Trump does. People want to blame Trump for this but we can't blame him. We need to look a tad deeper than that; look at how we are raising the future generations.

Just because someone does something are you going to do it? It is like the old saying "If your friends jumped off a cliff are you going to jump too?" I personally would not, but that is just me. The violence did not just begin after Trump was elected though. There have been so many incidents of violence in the past year such as all of the "protests". We all say we want America to be great again then why don't we come together and do just that. Instead of burning the American flag, vandalizing buildings, trashing the streets, etc. Why don't we help repair those buildings, clean those streets, raise the American flag high? If you want to be heard violence is not the answer just look at our ancestors such as Martin Luther King Jr. he once said "Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. I am not unmindful of the fact that violence often brings about momentary results. Nations have frequently won their independence in battle. But in spite of temporary victories, violence never brings permanent peace." He accomplished a lot in his lifetime. While violence may be the answer in some cases it is most certainly not the case for this country to get better. We all know there is a lot of work still to be done in America; there always will be and it is up to us to come together as one to do it the correct way.
