A Different Look at the Caitlyn Jenner Story

Is this about Caitlyn or the Kardashians?

Everyone is talking about it, Caitlyn Jenner, once known as the American olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner. But think about it: Did you know the once him as the All-American athlete or the patriarch in the famous "Keeping up with the Kardashians"?

Which raises the next question: Do we care that she is a transgender or do we care because she has such close connections to the famous Kardashian family?

Look at it this way, thanks to the Kardashian clan this story got a lot of attention, and some may say too much attention. But that is why some say that this story is not focused on "tolerance" for the transgender community in the nation, but rather how the Kardashians are handling the fact that their father figure is now a woman.

My personal opinion is that people are more concerned with the name related with Jenner, rather than what they are looking to focus on. If Bruce never married Kris, I don't think the public would give much time to this story. Maybe there would be an interview on Fox News or maybe an article and cover for People Magazine, but I don't think we would see reality shows (yes, plural) on E!, multiple interviews, or a full spread and cover on Vanity Fair.

I think we are more concerned with how the family is reacting to this because it is such an interesting story. I know for myself I am really wondering how the family are going to adjust to the transition. Especially the youngest Jenner girls, 17 year-old Kylie and 19 year-old Kendal. As for everyone's reactions to this topic, you can watch it all go down on their social media accounts and on the shows they are apart of. However, I have noticed that not everything they are saying in interviews and on social media match up to the way they are acting on their reality shows, which makes me wonder if they are really as open and proud as they claim to be.

Maybe the next show "I am Cait" premiering on E! this Summer will explain more about the message Jenner is trying to communicate to the nation, but for now, I have to say the public is not as concerned with the issue Jenner claims she wants to promote as they are with keeping up with the Kardashians.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
