Yes, I care about my future. I care about my well-being, and I care about the ones I love. I care about animals and the environment, and I care strongly about numerous social issues that plague our world. I admit, the title is a little misleading, because I care about a great number of things.
But over the past couple of years, I have realized that the petty stuff doesn't matter. I stopped trying so hard with my appearance on days that I just didn't want to get out of bed, and I started trying a little too hard on days when I felt like dressing up. I stopped caring what people think of me, especially people who choose to judge others without getting to know them. If someone says something about me, it's probably not true. The people I care about know that, so it doesn't matter.
I eat whatever I want because no one actually notices the small amount of extra fat as a result -- they probably have some too. I try to be healthy as much as possible, but I've realized that the most important thing is how I feel, not how I look. I could be dieting and exercising all the time and look "healthy," but if I don't love myself it doesn't count for anything.
I stopped letting people judge my decisions. You're never going to live your life to the fullest if you're wondering what that other girl over there thinks of you (and she's not thinking about you anyway; she's thinking about what that other person thinks of her). So if you want to do something, go ahead and do it. You're not going to do it "sometime." Plan to do it tomorrow or next week.
Of course we all care. And that's all natural and good. But stop caring about things that don't matter. Live your life and be your best, happiest self. That's what matters most.
