Dear college football refs that come to Boone Pickens Stadium, we have a bit of a problem.
It's not that us Cowboys fans don't like you and we want to boo you during every game, we would just want calls to be made on both sides of the field. We would also like if you knew the rule book. This 2016 football season has been the season of bad calls and missed calls it feels like. Remember refs when James Washington took a helmet to his helmet during the Texas game? Probably not since you didn't throw the yellow flag you kept in your pocket, but I bet you remember that Washington never came back that game because he was knocked unconscious. Or the Iowa State game, there was a flag thrown for pass interference when Iowa's receiver was running one way and the ball traveled another.
There was also a personal foul called when OSU's defense pushed a inbound player out of bounds and you called that he was pushed when he was out of bounds. I bet you didn't see when Iowa State pushed one of our players after the blow of the whistle, because you never threw a flag. We can talk about the CMU game but I'm pretty sure we would all like to forget how you messed up a call because you didn't know the rules and the men upstairs never checked to make sure the call was right, and how OSU lost. Or that after the game you stated that you were wrong and it should have never happened. The cowboys are also somewhat at fault, but without that call we could have survived that close score. It's also the best example of how bad the refs have been this season. At least at the Iowa State game you reviewed the call at the last two seconds, so your learning at least. I mean when Mike Gundy starts yelling at you, you should know you've royally screwed up.
Gundy yelled because his players' safety was not being taken care of by the refs. It's infuriating to watch the replays on the jumbo-tron and see the obvious miss call or bad call and not be able to do anything about it has a fan. Our football team shouldn't have to be playing against two opponents on the field. We aren't whining because some bad calls were made, we just want them to be made on both sides of the field. Whether you are a MAC ref, a BIG 12 ref or any other ref that visits BPS, as fans of cowboy football, we just want our refs to protect our players when they are targeted, and throw flags for both sides of the field, or if you don't throw for them don't throw on us, and know the rules. We understand that you are human and you make mistakes and don't see everything, but there are seven of you to watch every play. Bad and missed calls have always been made, it just feels like this season they've been made a lot more.
