Who is this so-called Stephen Curry?
Stephen Curry, "Chef Curry," is a professional NBA point guard who currently plays for the Golden State Warriors. Despite his slight frame and boyish looks, Curry proved to everyone and himself that he was truly capable of handling the NBA. The hard work he puts into his game reflects his passion toward basketball. It is no wonder he is being hailed as one of the greatest point guards to handle the ball. His shooting capabilities are incredible, and in the 2014-15 NBA season he helped lift the Golden State Warrior's to an NBA Trophy.
The 6-foot-3-inch guard averaged more than 22 points per game after the 2010 All-Star break and wound up finishing second in the "Rookie of the Year" balloting. His impressive play earned him a spot on the USA men's basketball senior national team, which won the gold medal at the 2010 World Championships.
Curry for three!
The difficulty of some of the shots that Chef Curry drills inside are incredible. The reigning MVP recently broke his own personal record of most 3-pointers this season. He is practically unguardable from various positions near the court. When he does get double-teamed, he manages to find space for a magnificent dish around his opponent. He is very crafty and his IQ for the game is insane.
How did he perfect his craft?
1. His father, Dell, played 16 seasons in the NBA and shot 4 percent from three for his career.
Steph Curry's genes must have been hardwired to match and improve his dad's ability to shoot the rock. When his father played in the league, he was also renowned for his shooting ability. There must have been a few pointers that his father bestowed upon a young Curry. Furthermore, when Dell Curry played for the NBA he used to let his son play "H.O.R.S.E" with other famous stars from that time. As a result, Stephen Curry unconsciously began practising with the best of the best. It was just a matter of time.
2. He's hard-working and fiercely competitive.
Michael Jordan had it. Shaq had it. Kobe had it. Steph has it as well. What does he have, you may ask? The killer instinct and the fire burning inside of him of becoming one of the greatest to lay hands on a basketball. As of today, Stephen Curry is displaying numbers that we haven's seen in a while produced by the likes of Wilt, Jordan and LeBron. He's been also making more 3-pointers than two NBA teams in the league. If he hangs on this season and maintains these numbers he will surely make history.
3. He practices a combination of fundamental and extremely detailed footwork that allows him to move, get into rhythm, and be ready to shoot easily and quickly.
He is improving his game by doing footwork drills with the help of newer technologies and constantly working in practice. He is always pushing his boundaries. Also, he works on certain situations that may happen in the court and breaks down the fundamentals of the game. In my opinion, by doing these Pistol Pete Maravich-type of drills he is becoming creative and becoming an unorthodox type of player. There's been a number of legends in the point guard position, and I hope that Stephen Curry continues to cook up something special for us.
