Hearing Each Other Out Can Be What Saves Your Relationship

Relationships are built on trust. And with trust comes the ability to not only feel safe to talk but to also practice listening.

There are a lot of couples who bicker and argue. And sometimes these arguments get heated and words are said that hurt the other. I'm putting emphasis on the word ALOT here. If you feel that you are that one couple who bickers all the time and no one will understand or relate to you believe me, you are not alone.

Ok now that I have thrown that out there let's just dive into how we can work to not necessarily fix the bickering, but to grow as a couple in a positive way. And that is to fully hear each other out.

And to hear each other out there are a couple rules to think about...

Rule #1. Don't Judge Them

New Girl

When your significant other feels safe enough to talk with you and tell you what's going on, take pride in that. They trust you so don't judge them because they want to talk. It's not just another conversation.

Rule #2. Be Present

I Love Lucy

Be there.Don't just stay silent and close yourself off from them. ACTUALLY LISTEN!

Rule #3. Don't be thinking about your next move or response.

New girl

To be fully present with them and to actually hear them out you need to HEAR THEM. Take in what the yare saying. And then take a moment to digest. After they are done speaking and you've taken a moment to take it all in and breathe, then and ONLY then you should respond.

Rule #4. Know When It's Time To Take A Breath.

Friends

Not every argument can be won, nor should it ever become a competition. And not every argument ends with an instant compromise. And sometimes the best thing you both can do for your relationship in that moment when things are way too heated is to tell each other that you need some breathing room.

And let me just be clear here...THIS IS NOT A BREAK! No Ross and Rachel here! Sometimes the best thing you can do is walk away for a couple hours and collect your thoughts without the pressure to respond.

Do not take this time to pick the bottle of alcohol or go out to the bar with your girls or boys to "blow off steam". That's not what this is for. Take this time to let you feel your emotions for ten minutes and then remember what is important to you. And what is worth fighting for.

Sometimes it can feel that you bicker with your significant other far more than the usual couple. But I'm going to let you in on a little secret, sometimes I feel that we bicker a lot in our own relationship. And yes sometimes they can turn into arguments. But part of a relationship is learning how to work together and learn each other's styles. Not fashion styles, but how each person handles stressful situations and conflict.

Each person is different and that's ok!

There is power in hearing each other out. This goes BOTH ways! Good luck to you my beautiful readers!

"People waste their time pondering whether a glass is half empty or half full. Me, I just drink whatever's in the glass."

"The Golden Girls" created history when it first premiered in 1985 setting the stage of strong-willed female characters who are aging gracefully with dignity. It is a treasure trove filled with humorous scenes and situations that will always be relevant to watch. I still rejoice in watching these spectacular women embrace life with full stride and the way they always strive to focus on the brighter side of life.

These 4 dynamic and awe-inspiring women taught us that age is indeed nothing more than a number and that we can set out to accomplish anything our heart desires at any time.

Unfortunately, the time is here. It is officially the spring semester, and you know what that means: lots and lots of studying. If you are in the same situation I am, then you are probably doing your 3rd semester of online/hybrid school. Not being at school or not attending classes in person definitely makes learning and studying a lot harder. Because I know this struggle all too well, I put together a list of study tips to hopefully help us all succeed a little more this semester.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't sure how to write this article.

In the past, I've written about the lies we tell ourselves. I've written about how thoughts can be destructive, how they can have power over who we are.

I Have An Eating Disorder And I Refuse To Let It Kill Me

Even at my lowest, the number on the scale never seemed low enough... but was it ever worth the risk of losing my life?

Trigger warning: This article discusses topics that may be triggering for some readers.

I looked down at my thumb today. I know haven't been eating enough. I told everyone I would get all my vitamins and calories in. I totally wanted to eat more of the guacamole I bought the other day, but I counted what I had eaten and those numbers seemed a little too high. I decided I didn't need the extra helping, so I went to bed and the guacamole went bad.

When pursuing a degree that most deem 'useless' or a 'waste of time' there happens to be a lot of self-doubt and fear, especially with the pending doom of graduation around the corner. I remember when I was about to graduate from college with a Bachelor's in Acting, I was absolutely terrified.

I bought and tested one of TikTok's popular products so you don't have to.

I spend a lot of time on TikTok and I never know whether the products I see are worth it or not, especially when I'm looking at the price. For Christmas, my aunt got me a gift card to Ulta. I didn't know what to buy. I have way too many palettes and lipsticks. I have my essentials. What else could I need? Then it hit me that I saw a lot of people these past few months showing off their skincare fridges. So, the second I thought of it I went on the Ulta app and bought it. So, here are my thoughts.
