Everyone is always saying in high school, "College is great" and "College is so much fun, unlike high school" I have no clue what they were talking about because I've been at college for almost 4 weeks now, and it so much harder.
In high school all of your classes were in a small building (I went to a small high school), now I have to run from one end of campus to the other in 10 minutes, while my professors like to run over class time.
In high school you had a set schedule that was all back to back. In college you could have one class at 8am and then one at 12pm, it could be messy and may make you feel like your day is super long and consumed by classes.
In high school if you are having trouble, you can stay after school. In college you have to find out your professor's office time and hope you have some time in your schedule.
In high school if you need supplies, binders, paper, pens, etc. you can ask your mom or dad. In college, you are an "adult" (even if you are 17...) and have to find a way to the local store and pay for everything for yourself.
In high school if you were apart of a sports team, you would have practice and game after school. In college you may have to miss class for a game or have practice right before your next class.
For me, I moved 7.5 hours away from my home and my car broke down needs a new transmission. With my very busy schedule with classes and all the programs I am involved with, I have had to make some difficult decisions and choose between things. Never mind the fact I can't go home now.
But college isn't all that bad, don't get me wrong.
In college you meet amazing people who share the same desire of getting a good education.
If you live on campus you get to have "girls night" with masks and Gossip Girl until whatever time of the night.
College in general is just a different environment, which everyone should get the chance to experience.
College you get the chance to make your own decisions and get to live life how you want to and see the consequences and rewards of that.
The earliest classes in college is at 8am.
You get to experience life on your own, you get to see the good and the bad of being on your own.
I love my campus and school. It is a beautiful place where I am growing and will continue to grow into the woman I want to be. For me, a Notre Dame woman.
But in the end, high school was easy and they held your hand. In college you are our own person. And whether or not you succeed, at this point, is really just up to you.
