"Oh, I love parking at CSI(College of Staten Island)." Said no one ever. CSI needs to get their act together I have been going to CSI for three years and don't get me wrong I enjoy the college experience from them, but they need to get cracking on the parking lots and roads. First off if you have ever been to CSI you will notice there are a whole bunch of car destroying potholes all over. If you are coming into the college through the back entrance, then you better have a high suspension car because the potholes are really ridiculous. Now you are finally finished going over all the potholes. Then you are on your way to park for class but wait there are no spots. The gravel spots are available, yet they have potholes throughout the lot.
So now after you find a spot, you have to walk to your classroom. This could make you late to class. Some other students that I'm good friends with that came to class late I would ask them what was the reason for them being late. The biggest reason was that they couldn't find a parking spot. I have heard of issues that people have had with their cars, this is because of the potholes. The potholes are all around so even if you try to avoid one you will hit another. This is ruining tires and could also hurt a car's suspension.
Why not use the money that is paid every semester why can't we get the roads fixed to a better degree. They do fill in some of the potholes, but it doesn't last. Why not fix the issue by repaving the roads. It will make them more safe and a much better driving experience. It would increase the mood of the campus too. People would be happy not having issues with their cars and also finding a parking spot not to fight over.
The gravel parking lots where meant to be finished a while ago or at least plans to get it done seemed to be in effect. Still, though the gravel parking lots are riddled with potholes and some seem big enough to consume a car. I think that the College of Staten Island needs to put money into fixing the roads. Not just for students but for their faculty. If you didn't know employees at the College of Staten Island have to pay for their parking passes. They have special parking spots, yet there still is not enough of them for the whole body of professors and other employees to be able to park. Professors arrive to class late for the same reason as some students, which is finding a parking spot. Again the gravel should be paved and turned into a nice parking lot where the lines are easily visible and rocks and mud aren't issues you have to worry about. Hopefully one day the College of Staten Island will fix this issue.
