In college, it’s a treat to be able to have your car at school. It makes life a lot more convenient. When you need food, you can take a drive to the grocery store. When you need to do some shopping, you can drive to the mall. When you want to make an impromptu road trip home, you can get in your car and drive away.
Driving in State College is a nightmare. Beaver Ave has stop and go traffic at all times of the day. College Ave is a hassle when drunk kids are crossing the road. Forget driving through classes while classes are getting out. You might as well just put your car in park while students just cross the street for 15 minutes without even looking both ways.
Here are some of the thoughts I have while driving in State College:
1. *looks over at driver next to me* Stop texting and driving!
2. It's green! That means go! Go!
3. The speed limit is 25 mph not 10!
4. I've definitely made out with that boy crossing the street.
5. Welp! He definitely caught me staring at him.
6. I can beat this red light! Go! Go! Go!
7. Yes! Barely beat it!
8. The hand is up. You do not have the right of way. *glaring at girl texting and crossing the street*
9. The light is green for me so that doesn't mean you can cross, frat guys!
10. I have to drive through campus. This is going to be a nightmare.
11. Oh no. It's 2:15 p.m. Class just got out.
12. The crosswalk in front of Forum is a constant flood of students crossing. I'm going to be here until tomorrow.
13. Uh that CATA Bus almost hit that kid.
14. This is ridiculous. I'm going.
15. Yes! I'm moving again.
16. It's snowing? No!
17. It better not get icy.
18. I wonder if the town will put salt down.
19. Does this mean class will get cancelled?
20. I need to park, but I don't have quarters. Sh*t!
21. The metered parking outside of Starbucks is so inconvenient.
22. Atherton is horrific during rush hour. Why do I even bother?
23. Use your blinker!
24. Ugh I'm almost on empty but it's cold. Pennsylvania shouldn't make me pump my own gas. *flips hair*
25. Uh, does that kid have his license? He looks 12.
26. Is that a cop? *slams on brakes*
27. Nope. Just the Canyon car.
28. Oh my! Is that a Maserati? How much did that set his parents back?
29. My Nissan looks so lame compared to that.
30. I hope my friends don't ask me to drive them anywhere for the next few days. I need a break after all this stress.
