What a time to be alive and to be a Cleveland fan. The Professional athletes of Cleveland are showing all of the fans in the city that the last 52 years prior to 2016 no longer mean a thing. It's funny to think that I am living in the generation where I am seeing such hope and unity and such a beautiful turn around in most of our Cleveland Sports. (With the exception of the Browns Organization, it's still a work in progress *per usual)
If you haven't heard The Cleveland Indians are 2-0 in the ALDS playoffs against The Boston Red Sox. This is a pretty special year because we haven't won a playoff game since 2007 when we LOST to the Boston Red Sox... And here we are again, and it also so happens to be David 'Big Papi' Ortiz's last year in Major League Baseball. Needless to say, everyone's pretty nervous and the stakes are high.
Playoff Game 1: With home field advantage at Progressive field, The Cleveland Indians had three homers by Roberto Perez, Frankie Lindor, and Jason Kipnis all in the 3rd inning. Jose Ramirez scored with the help of Lonnie Chisenhall and Roberto Perez scored with the help of Jason Kipnis. Obviously, The Tribe won 5-4 with 37,762 in attendance. That is AMAZING!!
Playoff Game 2: With another home field advantage and two words: SHUT OUT, thanks to our 2014 Cy Young Award Winner Corey Kluber. Corey pitched 106 pitches and ended the night just briefly into the 8th inning. The Indians won 6-0 and Progressive Field's attendance count was 37,842 *I was one of them*. And so were these guys...
Before the game, Lebron James, along with JR Smith (PLEASE SIGN ALREADY), Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, Justin Jones, and Dahntay Jones all went on the field to deliver a message to the Cleveland Fans in Progressive Field. My Favorite part of Lebron's pre-game pep-talk was...
"Always believe something Cleveland, it's always us against the world. Always us against the world. Cleveland against the world, LET'S GO."
Lebron really know's how to get a crowd going right before a playoff game, that's for sure.
From The Lake Erie Monsters winning the Calder Cup in June. Stipe Miocic, our local UFC Heavy Weight Champion from Independence, Ohio. And, of course, we can't forget-
So- Now Cleveland Indians, as you've said before... It's your turn.
