RNC Cleveland

Cleveland, a vibrant city, home to seven former Presidents of the United States, plans to host the 2016 Republican National Convention (RNC) which will take place July 18-21.

The city has been preparing for this important political convention which will involve not only current, Republican candidate, Donald Trump, but various other celebrities and political leaders from across the globe. Even, Kardashian-affiliated and proud supporter of the GOP, Caitlyn Jenner, plans to attend the event.

So, what changes will be observed in the city of the newly declared NBA Champions? Here is a list of merely 11 of the various things that will be different in Cleveland due to the RNC.

1. Traffic, traffic and more traffic

With the income of thousands of politicians and celebrities from cities dispersed around the country, traffic is sure to be horrific. It is suggested that if you work in an office building, bar restaurant or anywhere in or near downtown Cleveland, that you leave at least two hours early.

Traffic accommodations have already been made and can be found here.

2. Increase in the Price of Starbucks Drinks and Hours

Coffee-lovers, rejoice! The Starbucks located on West 6th Street in downtown Cleveland as well as the one inside of Tower City plan to stay open longer during the RNC. In fact, the store on West 6th will be open 24/7!

However, many speculations about the increase of its prices have been made, as well, unfortunately.

3. Celebrity Sightings

Caitlyn Jenner recently announced that she will be heading to Cleveland for the RNC to discuss LBGT issues---meaning there is a chance that anyone downtown during this event could catch a glimpse of the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star.

Additionally, New England Patriots football star, Tom Brady plans on attending, and even if you aren't a Trump supporter, a Donald Trump sighting will be more than memorable!

4. New Suspicious Activity Tip-Line

As a result of the various terrorist attacks and violent outbreaks in the United States, Cleveland Police created a Suspicious Activity Tip Line (1-800-225-5324), allowing anyone in Cleveland who suspects any suspicious activity during the RNC to text in a tip.

Cleveland plans to remain safe and cautious. Especially, during an event bringing in thousands of people to the city.

5. Half-Off Uber Rides

  • Regardless of whether or not you support the Republican Party, Cleveland's Uber Company is offering excellent promotions for those traveling with Uber during the RNC.
  • Here is what you need to know about the promotion:
  • 50% neighborhood drop off discount is valid from 6pm to 11pm
  • Promo code valid on rides ending in specified areas above within the outlined geo-fence
  • Promo code valid on rides up to $20
  • Promo code valid for up to 2 rides per rider until expiration
  • Promo code will expire on July 14, 2016 at 11pm
  • Promo code must be entered before trip has begun
  • Go explore the city without breaking the bank on travel expenses!

    6. Presidential Themed Dive Bar

The drinks are cheap and the music is wonderful! Step out to the Millard Fillmore Presidential Library during the RNC for a presidential-like night. This dive bar opened just this past year and is sure to be crowded with RNC attendees during the event!

Location: 15617 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, OH 44110

    7. West 6th Will STAY Open

"It will bring the politicians and the party," says Barley House Manager, Stephanie Serrage to Cleveland's Fox 8 News. According to the Ohio Department of Commerce, local bards will be allowed to serve alcoholic beverages until the 4 A.M hour. So, come party with politicians during the week of the RNC!

    8. "The Q" Will be Reserved

Quicken Loans Arena has been transformed into a political convention headquarters in the past few weeks. Crews have been stripping down seats and building stages and platforms in preparation for the RNC.

The RNC released a time-lapse video of the Q's transformation below:

    9. More Loud Motorcyclists

Summertime in Cleveland means the sound of bike engines roaring through the streets. During the RNC, the Republican motorcycle group, Bikers for Trump, plans to demonstrate their support for Donald Trump. The group will be lead by founder, Chris Cox, and plans to swarm the city peacefully and with pride.

    10. LeBron Banner

...it's staying up! The 10-story tall banner of NBA Champion, LeBron James will remain hanging off of the Sherwin Williams Co. Global Headquarters during the RNC, as a result of nearly 25,000 signatures petitioning Cleveland's Paint Company to "Leave it Up!" The "This Land is Our Land: 150 Years in Cleveland" banner idea has officially been thrown out.

Politicians will thus be welcomed with a reminder of Cleveland's most treasured moments---an NBA Championship after nearly 52 years!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
