Whether you have been a die-hard fan since childhood because your grandfather was a fan or just a supporting White Soxs fan who still waited in anticipation of what the score will be at the very end, whether you were watching it from the start or just checking the score while trying to do your homework or on break at work, we can all agree on one thing, that was ONE SPECTACULAR GAME, AND ONE SPECTACULAR WIN FOR THE CHICAGO CUBS!
In short, for all those who are behind on baseball, the last time Chicago Cubs won the World Series was in 1908. To put that into perspective, the first time the World Series ever played was 1903. The last time the Cleveland Indians, the rivalry team that the Cubs played against in the World Series was 1948, also a long time since they had competed in the World Series. Game 7 was the determining game of who would ultimately win following the previous 3-3 game wins from both teams in the series. With the score 6-6, tensions rose and many couldn’t bear to watch what would happen; however, that ended soon enough in the 10th inning with the score of 8-7, making Chicago Cubs the champions.
I found it interesting that regardless of how many times they previously lost, there are fans who doubted them ever winning and there are fans who stuck with them. But with some things, it just takes time.
Similarly, I’ve heard long before that the Blackhawks hockey team was the unfavorable hockey in history until they started winning the Stanley Cup. That gap between them winning the first Stanley Cup is not as large as 108 years. However, since their first ever win in 1938 to their next following win in 2010, 49 years is a lot. But with some things, it just takes time.
In some instances, we are still waiting for another spectacular moment in history like The Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls. The last time the Chicago Bulls won the NBA championship was in 1998, whereas the last time the Chicago Bears won the Super Bowl was in 1986. We'll wait, but keep our hopes up.
Anything is possible, time is all it takes to finally achieve goals and dreams.
