6 Things To Do This Cuffing Season If You Are Single

Cuffing season is upon us which means it's time for all singles to shine. Here are six things to do this cuffing season to make it a great one.

1. Take yourself out on a few dates.

It is 2018 people! It ain't weird to do stuff alone. You don't need a boo to get you some yummy food. You don't need a friend to see a movie. If there is a cool event coming up or a place you have always dreamt of visiting - do it! Live your best life and live it now!

2. Buy yourself a nice blanket or some fuzzy socks.

If you don't have anyone to wrap you up in a big ole hug than get yourself a nice thick fuzzy blanket for the cold season and throw it around your shoulders - boom! A DIY hug. Blankets are great. You can wear it around your house like your royalty or a superhero. Blankets are life. Buy a blanket.

3. Show yourself some love.

Be nice to yourself this cuffing season. Don't tear yourself down for being single--singlehood is so liberating and inspiriting. Enjoy it! Go beyond just being gentle with yourself and your relationship status this season. It sounds weird, but you deserve to be loved the same way you want to love someone. So shower yourself in some kisses, rub a soft blanket on your cheek, buy just about anything from Lush. Give yourself a hug. Run your fingers through your hair. Treat yourself with the same compassion you'd show your significant other.

4. Start your New Year’s resolutions early.

It's colder out now which means it's perfect for a run or a bike ride or just spending any time outside at all. Instead of waiting around until some arbitrary day in January to start changing your life habits, start changing now! Spend the time you would be spending looking for or cuddling up with your boo to work on self-improvement. If you think you don't need to improve anything about yourself--hey, maybe that's why you're single.

5. Learn how to cook a meal for yourself.

Preferably something served hot. Learn how to make something with seasonings beyond salt or pepper. Practice learning new recipes in the fall to make for yourself. Then when love finds you, you can show off your impressive cooking skills and woo your boo off their feet.

6. Don’t settle.

I know it is tempting to start or stay in a relationship with someone you know is not good for you just because you don't want to be alone. Don't do that to yourself. Don't do that to the other person. You both deserve better. If you aren't already in a relationship this cuffing season, just let love be and keep doing you. You don't need to be in a relationship. Instead of wasting your time searching and yearning, focus on yourself, and you'll be surprised how soon you'll find love.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
