Bad days happen. It's just another side effect of living.
With the bad days, though, come the good days. Before you know it, life won't seem as dark and dreary as it did yesterday. However, sometimes surviving the bad seems impossible and there are definitely some days that feel as if they'll never end.
The good news is that they will eventually end and things really will get better.
When the bad days seem impossible to make it through, here's a list of reminders that will make the bad seem a lot less worse:
1. You are loved. Maybe not how you want to be loved, maybe not by whom you want…but you are loved.
2. Stop looking for the “magic spark” or “fireworks” in life. There are no mystical signs leading to your Prince Charming, there is no obvious “one way only” sign to help you make decisions.
3. Not all goodbyes are permanent. Sometimes they’re just really long “see ya laters.”
4. Your siblings really are your other halves. No matter how terribly they piss you off, remember that one day you won’t be living in the same house as they do, and those midnight runs to McDonald’s will probably only happen when you come home for the holidays.
5. Guys and girls suck equally just as they are both equally awesome. No exceptions.
6. It's OK to wear clothes that make no sense because fashion models wear a lot of clothes that make no sense and people idolize them.
7. Seriously, though. Beer before liquor, never been sicker.
8. Just remember that when you move out of home, that annoying piece of hair in the back of your head that is super hard to reach and refuses to straighten will probably stay that way for the day. Because your mom won’t be there to get it for you.
9. If a best friend helps you wax your 'stache, you keep them around.
10. Work shitty, low-paying jobs, and struggle to get what you want. The success seems so much sweeter if the struggle was painful.
11. You will cry yourself to sleep multiple times before you ever leave those “horrible teenage years.” Your eyes will always be puffy in the morning. Don’t even try to fix it with makeup.
12. Red Bull causes insomnia and hives.
13. Someone once told me that if you walk around constantly smiling, there’s always someone looking down, smiling at you. You are never a failure.
14. Being ALONE and being LONELY are two different things. Don't confuse them.
15. Speak the truth even when it hurts.
16. There’s a difference between “you’re mine” and “you’re my girl.” Possession is not love and you are not an object.
17. Talk loud when you are excited, cry hard when you are broken, and laugh hard when you are happy. Life is too short to do everything with half your heart.
18. He really did love you.
19. Sometimes history wants to repeat yourself. Your parents' advice is worth more than you want to admit.
20.. People are gonna hate you for no reason at all. And you’re gonna hate people for no reason other than “because they hate me.” Be kind.
21. Fake isn’t gonna get you anywhere. Be real. Be raw.
22. Be you. Even when you have no idea who that is.
23. Speak your mind. Tell the truth. And never let people guess where you stand or what you believe.
24. “Slutty college years” really aren’t going to help you decide what you want in a guy. And that list of “My Perfect Boyfriend” isn’t gonna happen. Nobody is perfect -- you just learn to love the imperfections.
25. Let your parents hold hands in public, even if it creeps you out. They have a love story you probably don’t even understand.
26. It's OK not to do what everyone else is doing. Just like it's OK to look differently, speak differently, and think differently. Uniqueness is empowering.
27. If you need advice, listen to The Beatles.
28. College is for late nights, irresponsibility, and barely passing classes. Grades matter in high school. Experiences count in college.
29. Say “I love you” before you leave or hang up, even if you’re mad. It may be the last thing you ever say.
30. The darkest nights lead to even brighter days. You know how it’s raining right now? Chin up. “The sun’ll come out tomorrow."
