The Super Bowl was a huge excitement for Broncos fans and an extremely large disappointment for Panthers fans (myself included). However, I think the biggest disappointment was Cam Newton with himself and boy did it show. I understand that you just lost the Super Bowl and that you had so much riding on your shoulders, but one thing about being such a large personality is that you cannot wear your emotions on your sleeve. To elaborate on what I am talking about, watch this video of Cam Newton walking out on a post-game interview.
As you can see in the interview, Cam Newton is very agitated to what seemed like simple questions from the press. Newton should have expected this considering that he has done these interviews plenty of times before. Yes, he hasn’t done it in a long time, but that shouldn’t turn you to act like a small child. One thing is for sure, that sometimes reporters ask irrelevant questions, but there are better ways to shut them down or disregard them.
Kids may not be watching the post-game interview, but you still are an example to kids in way more than just football. Newton had a great season and that to me shows way more character and determination than the Super Bowl. If you were able to make it this far with the help of your teammates, then that definitely shows that you are worth the MVP win. Don’t spoil it by showing the world that you are a sore loser.
Cam Newton should be an example to all of us that you can’t win them all. You get knocked down, told no a million times in life, but the important thing is that you keep getting up. Strive to be the best that you can be in anything you do.
