How lucky are us Boston Sports fans, each year rooting for teams that for the most part are good and are contending for a title?
This has been a custom since the new millennium started. With the Patriots having won four Super Bowls, the Red Sox winning three World Series titles, and the Bruins and Celtics also adding a title within that time span, it is safe to say Boston sports fans are spoiled.
Spoiled with titles and championships is not a bad thing; it is quite the opposite, actually. What sports fan wouldn't want their teams constantly winning championships? However, we must be grateful for what we have. Boston is a special sports city, and one like no other. We should admire this time of dominance that we are currently in.
Boston has always been a great sports town. But before 2000, it wasn't actually relevant until it was constantly winning championships as it is now. For the longest time, the titles just weren't coming, and now they are coming like bullets out of a machine gun.
Not only has Boston won nine titles since 2000, but it has also made it to four finals as well: Two more Super Bowl appearances from the Pats (sorry for bringing it up), one from the Celtics (once again apologies), and one from the Bruins (guys, please don't kill me). Now that I write that down, I realize how tragic all of those finals loses were. Not only that but all four teams made it to the playoffs most years.
Boston fans would cheer on their teams even if they all sucked. The passion they possess for their teams is incredible. The fact that they have great teams to root for makes Boston a truly electric place for sports.
They call Boston Titletown for a reason, and it doesn't seem like that accolade is going away anytime soon. So let's enjoy this tremendous ride we are on, because we are the luckiest sports fans in the world.
City of champions for life. #Kisstherings.
