10 Things To Do When You Are Bored With Your Life

Everyone is on a roller coaster ride. There are ups and downs and most of their life seems like the same thing on repeat. It almost seems hopeless that your life will get better. You are tired of doing the same thing every day and you feel like there is nothing interesting about your life. That is one of the many reasons why people have fandoms and read/watch store like their lives depended on it. Sometimes we wish our lives were as eventful as the fictional stories we love. It is like living vicariously through them. It happens to a lot of people, more than you would think which means you aren't alone. It feels like it is impossible to get out of this rut once you have entered it but there is a way to live with it. Here are 10 things to do when you are bored with your life that may help you have an interest in your life.

1. Volunteer for organizations or extracurriculars

Tenor

This is a good way to just put yourself somewhere else. Get yourself out of your house and try new things. Get a new perspective and a new view.

2. Pick up a hobby

Focus your mind somewhere else. Start working with art or write. Sew, or take up photography. Do something that interests you and do it just for fun.

3. Travel to places you have never been to

WeHeartIt

I know this is easier said than done because traveling costs money but try and save. This makes it so you have something to look forward to and it doesn't have to be a big vacation. Visit different cities for a day. Just get out and see more than your everyday life.

4. Find the career you want

If you are in a career now that is making you feel like you are in this rut, then look for a new one. Starting a new job may feel impossible but you could just look. Maybe it'll help you realize that you are happy where you are or it'll make you realize you belong somewhere else. Money can only do so much but it won't make you happy.

5. Spend quality time with the people you love

Find time to spend with family and friends. It does wonder's when you are around the people you care about. These are the people that you need to share your rut with and listen to what they have to say, because they want you to be happy.

6. Make a bucket list

Create a list of things you have been wanting to do but never got around to and then do them. Don't keep telling yourself "one day" because eventually you will run out of days.

7. Stop doing things that don't make you happy

Tenor

These can be jobs or things maybe your friends like to do but you don't. Something, everyone else wants you to do but doesn't make you happy. This is hard to let go because we all want to please people, but then who is watching out for you? You should do what makes you happy.

8. Take care of your body

A lot of us don't have time to exercise or simply not a fan of it but there are a lot of benefits. This can mean eating healthy or treating yourself once in a while to a fancy coffee. It can mean taking a relaxing bath or doing a face mask. Take care of your body and most of the time it makes your mental health improve as well.

9. Think about your younger self

Wifflegif

All of us remember who we wanted to be as kids. A child's thoughts are probably the clearest because they have the best outlook on life. Think about what you would think of your life now when you were little. Would you look up to yourself? I know we are grown-ups but maybe we should think more like our younger selves.

10. Stop telling yourself things are impossible

Giphy

I've said something seems impossible a lot in this article because that is usually the mindset of most people. But when we start telling ourselves that anything is possible, it opens a lot of doors that we have kept locked. It is time to find the key in whatever meadow you threw it in and start unlocking those doors.

Being bored with your life is normal. It doesn't mean you are an ungrateful person because yes, people always have it worse. Maybe, it's because you'd rather live your life helping others that have less. You never know but whatever you are doing right now wasn't meant for you. Perhaps, when you are bored with your life, it means you were meant to do something different. Only we can find out who we are meant to be. No one can tell you because they aren't you. Your life is in your hands and you are the only one that can set yourself on the right path.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
