To My Big

Hi, From Your Little

31
To My Big
Total Sorority Move

Dear My Soon-To-Be Big,

Recently, I read an article titled "Dear Future Little," and I thought it was only fitting to write to my future big. Big/little reveal is so soon, and I’m way too excited.

As you probably already know, I am in love with being a part of our sorority. Therefore, I’m going to love you just as much. Prepare yourself to be loved just as much as if I was your blood-related little sister, because I’m going to love you like crazy. I never had a big sister growing up, so you’re pretty much the closest thing I’ll ever have to one.

I hope that the memories we create will last a lifetime. You are going to be one of the best parts of my time in college, so I hope that the stories we have to tell make this obvious. I hope that we always end the night in tears of laughter for whatever reason or for no reason at all. Every little memory will impact me and I can’t wait for the joy they’ll bring me.

Prepare yourself for some of the worst crafting you will ever see. I am not artistic whatsoever and I am sorry in advance. But hey, maybe I’ll learn!! And if you aren’t great at crafting either, well then we will make it work together.

Know that I am going to come to you for everything. I always need advice no matter what the situation. I can always use someone to help me pick out my outfit and someone to get a meal with. Sometimes, I just need a hug and a shoulder to lean on.

In return, always know that I am here for you, too. I will be your shoulder to lean on, I will get meals with you, and I will pick out your outfits for you. I will give you advice and I will pick you up when you’re feeling down.

Expect me to make your home feel like my own. Whether it is your physical home, your friends, your school family, or anywhere else that you feel at home, I want to feel comfortable there too. Make yourself at home wherever I am in return and we can easily get along.

Please encourage me to study, but also encourage me to have fun. Sometimes, I get too focused on one thing and then I can’t get out of that routine. I also lack motivation so, I am begging you, please encourage me to focus. Even if that means we go to the library together and you don’t let me leave until my work is done, that sounds great to me because I’m not doing it alone. Encourage me to have fun on the weekends and remind me that college is not just about the academics. Drag me to our sorority’s events even when I say I’m not going. Make me stop studying to go out or have a movie night.

I cannot wait to grow close with you and the rest of my soon-to-be family. You already mean so much to me, and I cannot wait to meet you so soon. I am beyond excited to create a bond with you unlike any other and I hope you feel the same way. Thank you in advance for accepting all my crazy shenanigans and for loving me like a true sister.

Love you always,

Your Soon-To-Be Little

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
