The 6 Best Things About Baseball

Baseball is one of America's favorite past times. I have so many memories from my childhood that take place at Yankee games, Mets games and Long Island Ducks games. Majority of my summers consisted of watching baseball. As I got older i thought the game got slow and stopped following, but once I started working for a baseball team I remembered why I loved the game so much. There are so many great things about this game and my summers would not be the same without it. These are the best things about baseball.

1. The atmosphere.

Walking into a baseball stadium or walking onto a field is unlike anything. Whether its walking into Yankee Stadium or walking up to my summer baseball league field there's just this feeling like no other. The atmosphere a baseball brings is one of the best feelings in the world. Sitting under the lights, watching the sun go down, there's no words to explain it, it's just one of the best feelings.

2. When the pitcher for your teams strikes out the batter.

The biggest relief is when your pitcher strikes out a batter. The entire course of an inning can change because of one batter so when you see the third strike hitting the catchers mitt, a wave of relief crashes over you. You also feel as pumped as they do especially if they strike out for the third out of the inning. I find myself reacting more than the pitcher does when he gets that last out. It's a great feeling knowing your team closed the inning with minimal casualties.

3. When your team has an amazing at bat.

One thing that everyone loves is winning, but when your team scores a lot of runs in an inning or through out the whole game, it can make any bad thing go away. Someone could have made an error in the field, but walk up to the plate, hit a double and the error completely goes away (except in their stats). Watching your team continuously hit well is a great feeling it gives you faith that they can win the game.

4. Having a hot dog and a cold drink.

One of mine and my dad's favorite things is going to a game getting a hot dog. The only time I'll ever have a hot dog is at a baseball game. It's a must.

5. The sound of the baseball hitting the bat or a baseball glove.

There nothing better than a fast ball meeting the catchers glove or hitting the bat. It's a very satisfying sound and when it happens; it's almost like heaven. That sound is probably as amazing as skates on ice.

6. Seeing little kids at the game with their mitt waiting to catch a foul ball.

As a kid I brought my mitt to every game I went to, even if I was sitting where the ball would probably not reach. Seeing a little kid's face when they see the ball pop up towards the stand as they reach their mitt up to catch the ball is priceless and it's one of my favorite things. It's been a tradition in baseball for the longest time and it's something I'll never get sick of.

Baseball is a game that has been around forever and it will stay around forever. If you've never followed it or have been to a game, then I recommend you go. There's nothing like spending a summer night at the baseball field.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
