The Best Text Messages My Mom Has Ever Sent Me

My mom is my best friend. She is the strongest, most selfless person I know and I hope that one-day, I will live up to be the kind of woman and mother that she is. She’s also probably one of funniest people I know. Even living over 1,000 miles away my mom still finds a way to crack me up everyday. Whether it's talking on the phone 2-4 times a day (not excessive I know) or during our constant texting conversation she always seem to make me laugh, even if she's being completely serious and isn't meaning to. I’m sure I’m speaking for a lot of us when I say the parents of this generation are a little technologically challenged. These are WORD FOR WORD texts my mom has sent to me. They are seriously some of the best/hilarious text messages I have ever received and I hope you enjoy.

1. "How is your diet going? Did you workout today?"

Now, I know you mean this in the nicest way possible mom. We try to keep each other accountable when it comes to diet and exercise now that we live in a place where it’s socially acceptable to wear a bikini on Christmas. Usually when I receive texts like this though I’m eating something like pizza or chocolate on my futon.

2. "Because it was chilly today…low was 55."

You have to understand that my family lives in south Florida and I go to school in the Midwest. So I probably received this text with a picture of my brothers on a beautiful beach somewhere while I’m walking to class in the Arctic.

3. "With all this social media….Do u know if he is dating someone else?"

Do I stalk my ex on social media? I don’t think anyone has ever done that before so I’m going to say no to that question...

4. "Y did u not talk to any cute boys?"

Hmm I don’t know mom because I wasn’t looking so hot for my 9 a.m. or at the gym. I think I will hold off on the flirting for today, thank you for the tip though. I did also come to college to learn, gosh.

5. "Grandma is teaching me how to knit…Make u a scarf…B done by next year."

First off grandma should have taught you to speak spanish (she's Cuban)  so I could've passed it in high school. But glad to know I will have a warm scarf to wear maybe two winters from now. It’s the thought that counts though!

6. "He adores u…That’s what I hear lol."

Huh? LOL. Where, who and when did you hear that from mom. Please I would love to know.

7. "What are you going to do at delts?"

Probably play board games and meet my future husband? The fact that my mother knows what fraternity I like to hang out at and asks how each of the members are personally doing is just too much.

8. "Is any of your friends going on spring break somewhere? Besides u, Ali and the delts?"

Sooner or later, she's going to get a personal invite over to the house I swear...the whole fraternity is not coming on Spring Break with Ali and I mom, there is no way you could feed all those boys. Or worse you would feed them and then they would never leave. I’ll let them know they are invited to come over the house though, I’m sure dad would love that.

9. "Try not to drink….Just hang…"

I think this text can speak for itself.

10. "Well...Because u never answer me…I salute u goodnight…..Love you"

I talk to you more than anyone, mother... but the best/amusing goodnight texts are from your mom; I don’t care how cute all of your boyfriends are.

11. "Love that!!! Great article!!! Very funny!!! Very true!!!"

The best reaction I could ask for after my articles get published.

I love you so much mom thanks for supporting me and being my biggest fan in everything that I do.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
