6 Places To Eat In MHK That You Won't Want To Miss When The Semester Starts

"Where do you want to eat?" These are your least favorite words to hear when you are out with friends, at least for me anyways. Nobody wants to be the one to choose and you end up spending an hour just deciding where to go and you end up going to the same old chain restaurant you go to every time.

If you are like me you hate going to the same old chain restaurant that you can eat at in basically every single town. So to help figure out those six little words here are my top six places to eat in Manhattan, KS (in no particular order).

1. The Chef

This little breakfast/brunch place is my fav breakfast place. It is a cute little restaurant downtown. They are usually pretty busy especially on game days so plan ahead and expect a little bit of a wait, but once they get you in they are pretty quick with getting your food out. Plus the food is delicious and definitely worth the wait.

2. Harry's

Expect a bigger check when you attend this fancy restaurant in downtown Manhattan. You will want to save this one for a special occasion. If you are going out for an anniversary or a big celebration this is definitely the place to go.

3. Rock A Belly Deli

While their food is good Rock A Belly is more of an atmosphere kind of place so if you really want to get the full experience you will want to eat here on a game day.

4. Varsity Donuts/The Varsity Truck

This one is not really a meal one, more like a late night snack type of place. If you are craving that donut in the morning this is definitely the place to go, however this made the list because of the famous Varsity Truck. Craving some food at 2 AM after a long night out? Varsity is the place to go. Donuts, corndogs, and my personal favorite the grilled cheese mac n cheese, plus so much more.

5. Taco Lucha

Lucha is located down in Aggievile and just about every college kid in MHK knows about Taco Lucha. It is a prime place to go. This is a great lunch or dinner place and like any other restaurant is going to be packed on a game day. However, make sure when you go, to get the famous bean dip.

6. Coco Bolos

This is my family and I's personal favorite and if you go it is likely that you will see us there. Bolos is also located in Aggieville and is a great spot for dinner or lunch. They are an upscale mexican restaurant with some modern twists to their food. If you want some spice this is the place to go.

So next time you are in MHK and you can not figure out those six words make sure you try out one of these six places.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
