Being a major foodie, I am always looking to try new spots to try out. I have stumbled upon some really great food finds in my area and I thought I would share with you a list of some food spots I always find myself heading back to.
1. Chinese: Golden House ($$)
7108 Santa Teresa Blvd, San Jose, CA 95139
Panda Express seems to be the popular Chinese food stop for most of my peers, but the American spin doesn't satisfy my cravings for more authentic Chinese food.
Personal favorite: Kung pao chicken & hot and sour soup.
2. Indian: Punjab Cafe ($$)
322 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95112
By far my favorite Indian food spot to date. Perfect level of spice depending on your preference and the food is flavorful without being oily. Be sure to stop by during the lunch buffet. It's just $8 with your student identification card!
Personal favorite: Chicken tikka masala curry & garlic nan
3. Japanese: Kula Revolving Sushi Bar ($$)
19600 Vallco Pkwy. Ste 160. Cupertino, CA 95014
The first time I ever went to Kula I spent the entire meal talking about the restaurant atmosphere. The revolving belt moves throughout the entire restaurant allowing you to see all of the food options before selecting something, the touch screen at your table allows you to order without a wait, and the ordered food is delivered directly to your table . Prepare your Snapchat because you'll be blown away by the restaurant setup. The bonus - every plate is only $2.25!
Personal favorite: Spicy scallop handroll.
4. Korean: Koja Kitchen ($)
2395 Telegraph Ave. Berkeley, CA 94704
Koja (Korean-Japanese) creates Asian style burgers. Starting out just as a food truck business, Koja has now expanded into four restaurants in different locations around the Bay Area. They were even featured on the Food Network! To make this place all the more interesting, the standard bread buns are replaced with crispy garlic rice buns.
Personal favorite: Short rib koja & kamikaze fries
5. Mexican: Mi Grullense Taco Truck ($)
1457 Fruitvale Ave, Oakland, CA 94601
If you want mouth watering tacos this is the place to go. I find myself majority of the time more than willing to travel 45 minutes just for these-- trust me, they're worth it. Warning: cash only.
Personal favorite: Carne Asada tacos with everything on it
6. Spanish: Picaro ($$)
3120 16th St. San Francisco, CA 94103
Try to get a seat in the back patio area; its a great spot to watch the sunset and listen to the live music. The food is delicious and the sangria is fantastic. Plus the complementary bread with orange sauce is to die for, that alone was satisfactory.
Personal favorite: Paella de Mariscos and sangria
This week take your best friend, your bae, or yourself to one of these mouthwatering food spots. You won't be disappointed!
