7 Things People With Autism Are Tired Of Hearing

People with Autism live regular lives just like everyone else, they cook, they clean, they do jobs, they pay taxes, they go out with friends, they live their lives like any other person. But one thing that we are tired of hearing of is all of these frequently asked questions and frequently said things so please stop saying those things here they are.

1. You don't look Autistic

Are we supposed to have green skin? Horns? Hooves? Autism does not have a look, the most normal looking person could be Autistic so please don't think that we are faking it. K thanks bye.

2. You could be normal if you tried

You know when I was younger I used to think everything bad that happened to me was my fault, but I have had people teachers even my own family tell me to be more normal and I realized I will never be normal and I am okay with that.

3. You must be like "Rain Man"

That is one of the most common things that people have said about an Autistic person and just so you know we are not all like that not all of us are good at math. Me? I am bad at math but I am good at other things though don't be assuming we are only good at one thing and that is all everyone has their own special talents.

4. You are probably violent and a danger to others

That is the worst thing someone could possibly say, with all of the news about shootings going on there are people that may think that all people with Autism are going to end up shooting up a school, when actually they are more likely to become victims than perpetrators, saying that kind of stuff further stigmatizes Autism and it is very hurtful so please don't be afraid of us we aren't going to hurt you.

5. How can you be Autisic if you are female?

Just because there are more males diagnosed with Autism, doesn't mean that females should be ignored because we are a rare amount it gives us more reason to raise awareness, we are here see us.

6. Looks like you can't fall in love

Well, news flash I am engaged to the love of my life and we couldn't be happier. People with Autism are perfectly capable of falling in love and they are capable of living very fulfilling lives as well.

7. I'm sorry

Why are you sorry? It's nothing to be sorry for.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
