People have changed the world in the past, figures such as Pericles with Athens, Alexander the Great with his conquest of the world, Augustus’ cunning transforming the Roman Republic to Empire, Akhenaten attempting to change the religion to make himself even more powerful, and Caesar using his military and political skill to conquer all of Gaul and take over Rome.

All of these figures had knowledge and skill- both in politics and in military. These figures transformed the Ancient Mediterranean to led it on a path that would result in more important figures such as Diocletian that lead the Mediterranean to what it is today. There only real rivals were eachother.

What’s the point? They all left their mark on history- being taught in classrooms all around the world. Figures that became even bigger in death- and in Caesar’s case, becoming a god. They ended in positions that they seized and took full advantage of, pushing aside any potential rivals.

These people are extreme examples, however, if they accomplished so much so can you.

Will you conquer the world like Alexander the Great did? Nope, but you can conquer your school career.

Can you push a civilization into the direction of a new concept like Democracy, as Pericles did with Athens? Probably not, but you can push your life in a new better direction if what you currently have is not suited for you.

Will you defeat your enemies and turn a Republic into an Empire like Augustus? Nope, but you can defeat those thought of little self worth and turn your mind into an empire of knowledge and good vibes.

Will you proclaim a new religion on an entire nation just to concentrate more power on yourself like Akhenaten? Eh, doubt it, but you can design a new plan in order to make yourself more successful in what you are going through.

Will you turn into a god like Julius Caesar did? No, but you can turn yourself into someone that loves themselves and get go through any challenge that life may throw that you.

These figures accomplished a lot and so can you. I believe in you.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
