Dear Gio,
You have been there for me through the UP’s and the DOWN’s. I appreciate that.
If it wasn’t for you laying beside my bed this morning my anxiety would have started right away. I woke up thinking, “I have so much work to do today, and so much I am behind on, and I even have a test on Monday that I have yet to study for,” which would have put me into a state of depression because I was being hard on myself. The way you look at me with those big brown eyes sends me into an instant state of relief.
Thankfully, you’re the reason I got up and went outside this morning. I couldn’t not let you go to the bathroom. You are also the reason I continued to stay positive throughout the day, and no matter how long it took me to do my homework, you’re the reason I got it done. You got me to go for walks every few hours, which helps me experience the nice weather outside, and the sunlight, which can automatically boost my mood and keep me from exhaustion. Also, I see the way you make everyone else we see on our walks giddy because you are the cute little dog that loves people, and that makes me feel warm inside.
You’re the reason I smile so much in one day. Your tail wagging around and your playfulness makes me happy. You’re also goofy. You lay on my yoga mat in the middle of me exercising and that makes me laugh. As well as the kisses you give me while I am trying to stretch out, or the pawing you do to my head when I’m down in child's’ pose. And when I go to roll the mat up, all you do is keep moving backwards on it until there’s no more room to.
I wish you could see how much better of a person you make me. Walking doesn’t only benefit you, it benefits me as well. Your excitement to get into the car and go riding with me not only makes you happy, but has probably saved my life a time or two. You should know that if it weren’t for you, I might not drive as carefully because of the “I need to get this done quickly” feeling. That’s just anxiety, but you help to calm all of my anxieties by being present.
The way you always greet me with a wagging tail shows me how much I mean to you and how every second I am away, is a second you miss me. Yet, you never seem to get mad about it. I see the way you get depressed when I leave though, because you know when I pack up that bag, I’ll be gone for too long in your doggy world. I promise I’ll always return. When I say, “I’ll be back later puppy, I love you,” you run to the chair in the den to look out the window and watch me leave. It’s really cute.
The best part is, all you ask for is my attention and love. I could give you those all day.
Love,
Your Forever Mom
