No matter who you are and what you have been through, I know for a fact you have been through something that has challenged you in some way, shape, or form. It is common to go through situations and challenges that test our abilities and attitudes. But how we react in moments of struggle and how we bring ourselves up again is what truly defines us. I encourage all of you to take part in the Happiness Project. Follow this guide as a way of life to make each day your best one yet, so that no time is wasted, no smile is left a frown, and no heart is left empty.

Smile at others.

A smile is the only thing that shows on the outside that comes from the inside.

Say "please" and "thank you."

You've been taught this since you were born. Keep it going.

Hold the door for people.

A simple necessity.

Watch your reactions.

Only react to things that are worth your energy. If it does not benefit you, it does not serve you positively. Don't react.

Do yoga.

Treat your mind and your body to a time of peace.

Pay it forward.

Pass the faith along any and every chance you get.

Take time for yourself.

Your body is your best friend. Treat it as such.

Always choose happy.

No matter what the situation may be or what emotions are associated with it, always aim for happy.

Treat your parents.

You will never fully be able to repay them for all they've done for you, but you can certainly try.

Wave at little kids.

Share the happiness to people of all ages.

Read good books.

Exercise the mind as well as the body. It controls our whole being.

Play with your dogs.

They truly are man's best friend.

Water your plants.

By caring for something else you will recognize that all living things need to be treated with love and respect.

Meditate everyday.

Inhale positivity, exhale negativity. I swear by this.

Spend time alone.

We all need time to be with ourselves and focus on our own needs.

Spend time with friends.

There is nothing better than a great friend to share your time with.

Say your prayers.

Thank who you believe in and pray for those who need it. You have more power in your heart than you may think.

Give your leftovers to those who need them.

Someone always has it worse. Remember that.

Rest on Sunday's.

Spend this time acknowledging the ups and downs of the week and focus on all the good that has come from it.

Always tip your change.

Five cents may be unimportant to you, but it can go a long way to someone else.

Give lots of hugs.

Hugging increases oxytocin which increases love and decreases stress.

Feed off of energies.

Recognize what's going on around you and be sensitive to others' feelings and energies. Be courteous and compassionate.

Take naps when necessary.

Listen to your body. If it's tired, let it rest.

Give back.

We have way more than we could possibly need, so always give to those less fortunate.

Practice gratitude.

There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.

Spread positivity.

One positive thought in the morning can change your entire day.

Whether you do one or all of these things everyday, I promise you will notice a difference in your life. By spreading happiness you will attract happiness. You are paving the way for a peaceful, wholesome, and happy life for you and those around you. And what's better than that?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
