Most of the time, my snapchat features food, my adorable boyfriend, or, most commonly, my puppy. Those are three of the most important things to me. Sometimes I also show my roommates or my beautiful college campus -- basically, regardless of my snap of the day, you get a momentary look into my life. More often than not, if I get bored, I'll go to snapchat and find some joy in the stories I watch. Recently, I've also added a bunch of celebrities on snapchat, because why not? It's fun to watch the lives of the rich and famous when they aren't being forced to read from a script. Here's some things I've learned from adding celebs to my snapchat list.
John Mayer is a good dude. When Prince died, he posted multiple videos as tribute to the late singer, playing Prince songs on one of his favorite guitars while simulntaneously using the Purple Rain filter. He's also fairly spontaneous-- he made a random trip to Coachella, alone, and hung out solely with people he met there.
The Kardashians are, in fact, as much of genuine airheads as they are portrayed to be on all other platforms. Aside from Kylie's videos of her closets and Kim's sexual videos and remarks regarding her husband, there is basically nothing you can't already see on TV.
Jesse McCartney is both my childhood and adulthood heartthrob and will be my lifelong crush. Although I envy his girlfriend for being with him, most of his snapchat stories are of her. Earlier this week, Jesse posted a story where he and his girlfriend were driving around, handing out care bags to homeless people. Plus, he has a really cute dog and half of his story is giving the dog treats for tricks.
I have always been just so-so about Ariana Grande, until I heard her and Big Sean singing Best Mistake live. Ever since, I have been a fan. Although I get a little annoyed at her voice when she is drunkenly squealing at her dogs, it's fun to watch her life. She has passion for her animals and for the earth, always exploring beautiful places and having her dogs tag along.
I've always been a big fan of Keith Urban and even went to one of his concerts a few years ago. I feel like we all got a little taste of his personality from American Idol, but I figured I would learn more about him from snapchat, but that wasn't really the case. Most of his snaps are taken by someone else, and are the same as the videos posted on Instagram. Although I completely understand that he is a celebrity and extremely busy, I was a little disappointed that we don't really get to see into his life.
Luke Bryan does this really cool thing where he visits college campuses and hides tickets to his concert. After walking the campus, he leaves three clues on his story so people at the campus can follow the clues and find the tickets. Once they get there, they get to meet Luke and be on his story. I think this is an awesome idea.
As lame as it may sound, adding celebrities showed me two things: they are either actually genuine people, or they are exactly who the media portrays them to be. Many of their snaps are made by the celebs themselves (while a few hand their phone off to producers or someone else), so we really get a view into their lives. There are no scripts, no perfect lighting. Everything is a raw and uncut view into their life.
