Different types of adversity may slow you down in your life. Maybe it is an injury or maybe its the rise ball the same pitcher keeps throwing that strikes you out every time. You feel negativity inside but all that does is stop your drive of becoming successful. So what's next?
What I am here to tell you is 'the end' is never really the end. When I first tore my ACL I thought to myself that this was the end. No more softball until the following year, there goes the college scholarships I have been working years for, missing the last six basketball games of my junior season, and not being able to play my high school season.
In your life your run into walls, some bigger than others. But God himself had a 'detour' for me to take, and he'll have one for you too. With doing therapy and different exercises, this has taught me to make 'mini goals' to keep myself from thinking 'this is pointless'. It is easy for outsiders to say 'at least you have next season' or 'you'll eventually heal'. I get that, but I think the real point here is figuring out who I am. So, what have I learned and what am I still learning?
I'm learning to believe in myself and to be proud of who I've become. I believed in myself when I started to see all the people who believed in me first. I am not just an athlete. In this recovery process I am becoming a better person overall. I now realize what it means to work hard for something because without work there is no progress. Also, my love has not decreased, but increased beyond measure for the sports I love (basketball and softball). I learned what true compassion is like and how blessed I am with what I have been given.
I want you to know that there is never an end, but a new beginning. I'm beginning to see a light I never pictured seeing. If you trust and believe in the Lord's plan I promise you, you'll have no doubts in yourself. You are strong and you are persistent. Push yourself beyond your limits and you'll land more successful than you ever dreamed of becoming. Being successful does not always mean being the best at what you do. Being successful is instilling determination inside yourself to do or become better than your were the day, minute, second before that. One day you'll look back and say 'I did it' because I pushed myself.
And that my friend, is one of the best feelings in the world. Believe in yourself!
Sincerely,
The girl who suceeded
