Personally, I’ve always been a cat person; they are cute, cuddly, and lovable, also they basically take care of themselves, which is a plus. But just recently I’ve become a serious pup lover. My boyfriend has grown up with labs and a few months ago he told me he was getting his very own lab puppy. Of course, I was excited for him and helped him get ready to bring the pup home, but always owning cats I wasn’t too sure what to expect.
The day finally came where he could go pick out the puppy, he had a choice between two from the litter (they were the only boys and he wanted a boy), and so I went with him to help him decide. We were playing with both pups, trying to decide which one would fit him best and I pick one of them up and was attacked with puppy kisses, and I absolutely fell in love. I said to my boyfriend, “this is the one, you have to get this one.”
So that was that we picked him out and he could come back and get him in a few weeks.
A few weeks went by and then finally the day came that he could go pick up baby Ace.
Now it’s been almost a month since this cute pup has been in our life and I can definitely say that I’m a dog lover now. It’s funny because I never realized how big of a responsibility it is to have a 9-week-old puppy, it's basically an 18-pound newborn baby (yes he’s going to be a huge lab), all he does is eat, poop, sleep and play. Honestly, it’s so cute but exhausting. I feel for my boyfriend because he has him all the time, potty training, 2 am running down the stairs taking him to the bathroom, disciplining etc. all that hard stuff that no one wants to do.
I have the joy of just giving Ace love, playing with him, and giving him treats all the time, so I’m obviously his favorite.
Seeing a pup grow up, even just in the last few weeks, you notice they have their own personalities; Ace is the perfect balance, he loves to play with his squeaky fox, but he loves being loved it’s the cutest thing. I know every dog owner probably says this but Ace is seriously the best pup ever, he listens (for the most part), never barks and it does help that he’s the cutest thing in the world, it’s the best.
While my cat, Gucci, is still number one in my heart, Ace is up there with him, and I can’t wait to see him when he’s a full-grown pup.
