Have you ever felt stuck? Like you are living your life day by day and you start to feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over again. You are so stuck in a routine that you can live your life with your eye closed and still follow that routine perfectly.

Lately, I have felt bored. I feel like I have been doing the same thing and looking the same way for so long that life began to lose it’s excitement. Whenever I feel this way, I change something. This time, I am choosing to cut my hair short because it has been long since I was in middle school. Yes, this change is small in the scheme of things but any size change can make a difference. It is something new which will cause a little more excitement in your life.

I used to not be okay with change, it was difficult for me to cope with. However, as I grew up, I realized that in life you need change, you need variety. When things change, it makes life a little bit harder but it also gives you more excitement.

The best way I found to help me with change is to accept it and enjoy what it brings you. If you continue to turn your back to every single change that comes your way, you will begin to get very bored and you won’t be enjoying life as much. Life can be short, enjoy it while you can.

There are a few small ways to change your life:

1. Change the route you take to work.

Not only will this make your trip to work a little more interesting but you can also learn more about your town.

2. Change your appearance.

Get a haircut, donate your clothes and buy a new wardrobe, get a new piercing or a tattoo. There are so many ways to change your appearance and it will add a little more excitement when you look in the mirror and you will feel more confident because it’s a “new you”.

3. Find a different music genre to try.

Are you constantly singing along to country? You know every single word to every country song on every country station? Maybe you should switch genres to add some variety. There is so many more types of music out there, give them all a try!

4. Find a new TV series to binge after a long day.

Who doesn’t love to come home after a long day, sit on the couch, and turn on the TV? Well instead of watching Friends a sixth time, try a new show. Like music, there are so many more shows out there that you could find really interesting.

5. Look up some cool recipes for dinner.

I know some people who eat the same thing for dinner every night, doesn’t that get boring? My favorite thing to do is to go on Pinterest and find some cool new recipes to try for dinner.

6. Change up your workout days.

Instead of legs and butt on Monday try it on Thursday and do shoulders and back on Monday.

If these small changes aren't cutting it, there are also a few bigger ways to change up your life:

1. If you aren’t happy at your school, transfer.

This one can be costly but if you aren’t happy and aren’t getting what you want from the school you are at, transfer. You are paying so much money for this education, make it count.

2. Get a pet, focus on something different.

This one can be a little time consuming and you’ll have to put a lot of effort in but if you have nothing to do and you aren’t happy, get a pet. Dogs will make you happy by just looking at them.

3. Remove toxic people from your life.

This one can be very difficult, believe me, but it is really worth it. Life is short, don’t waste it with people you make you unhappy. Live your life how you want it and make yourself happy, you deserve it.

4. Give yourself a break and take a trip.

Add some volunteering during the trip. It will not only give you a new experience but you’ll also better your outlook on life. Give back to world that has given you so much.

Those are just a few of many big or small changes you can make in your life. With each change, you will better yourself and your point of view on the world. Change is all a part of life – accept it, embrace it, and explore it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
