Loyola holds a special place in my heart and always will. Here's the ABC's to get to know the gist of this wonderful place I call home.
Alumni Memorial Chapel
The home of Lessons and Carols, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. mass. If you've never thought of getting married at one point in time in the spring surrounded by cherry blossoms at our quaint Chapel, did you really attend Loyola?
BriLi
He's basically famous. Whether you've seen him casually strolling through campus or at the FAC at 6 a.m., he can usually be spotted somewhere on campus. Always willing to stop and chat with any student, how lucky are we to have Brian Linnane as our president? So lucky.
Campion
It will hold a special place in your heart, for the better and the worst.
Donnelly Science Building
This building is the no man's land to anyone who isn't a science major. And the moment, a core class gets placed in here you often get up in arms about it because you just have never been in there. There's even a chance you could never walk in here through all four years at Loyola.
Evergreen Campus
We are the Evergreen Campus, we stand tall and proud. We are covered in beautiful trees.
Fans
We do have great fans. Once the spring season hits, everyone becomes a lacrosse fan and you can see the student section as excited as ever, no matter who we are playing.
Greyhounds
We are loud and proud as can be to call ourselves hounds.
Housing
While living here, you will realize that once you enter the real world, your apartment will not be as big as the one you lived in while at Loyola. Thanks for spoiling us for four years.
Internships
You can find them everyone, from on campus and throughout the city of Baltimore and even DC which is a short train ride away.
Jesuits
They do live on campus, live in dorms, and teach classes. They aren’t just priests here, they teach the Jesuit values in the classroom and out of the class whether it's in physics, political science, or theology class. They are also some of the best professors you might have at Loyola.
Knowledge
Contrary to popular belief, we actually attend Loyola to learn, and gain knowledge about the field you plan to some day be in, whether it be physics, finance, accounting, chemistry, music, or art.
Loyolapalooza
It's possibly the biggest event Loyola holds. I mean how much better does a free concert, free food, free ride, and blow up obstacle course get? Possibly one of the best events Loyola holds.
Messina
Some people love it, and some people hate it. Messina helps you discover and explore yourself and leads a path for you to follow for your following three years. You also make some of the greatest bonds in your Messina through enrichment hour and field trips through Baltimore.
Number of Students
We aren't by any means a large university, but we are a happy medium. You get the small school feel with a medium size school. You almost can't walk across campus without saying "Hello" to someone you know.
Orientation
Once again a love-hate. It's like two full days of coming to Loyola during the summer before your First-Year. You register for classes and hang out with Evergreens and one fourth of your class for those two full days.
Powerplant
Powerplant Thursdays, you might possibly see 90 percent of the Loyola population there.
Quiet Time
You can find that time almost anywhere on campus and it’s a nice opportunity to reflect and recoup. College will get to you especially when the months of April and December come around, you might just consider yourself living.
Rally
'Tis the season of Rally. It's one of the most highlighted events off-campus Loyola students look forward to every semester.
Starbucks
If you didn't come into Loyola liking Starbucks, I can almost promise you that it will change during your four years here.
Trees
We are the Evergreen campus, and every tree on campus has a label telling you what kind of tree it is. And those trees also super useful for hammocking and slack-lining on those beautiful spring days.
Unpredictable Weather
One day it might be 80 degrees, and the next day it might be 50 degrees and misting all day. It might even snow three to four feet over the course of a week, and the city might shut down. Then it might rain for a week straight. Coming to Baltimore you sign up for the most unpredictable weather.
Valuable Connections
During your time at Loyola you will find some of the most valuable connections to help you shine in the real world. And some of the friend you make here you will have forever.

The motto of Loyola, you’re bound to hear this at one point at Loyola at least. Basically essential to being the best person you can.
