How many more movies can you watch before your eyes fall out? How many naps can you take before you just become overtired? How many more times can you call your parents just to ask what they’re doing because it’s definitely more interesting than what you’re doing? You forget how great it is to be done with finals and have no responsibilities because you become so bored out of your mind that you would actually agree to go back to exams week just to give yourself an activity and some company. Sometimes, however, the only company that you need is yourself. Keeping busy and entertained actually can mean more than watching your 50th movie of the week.
1. Make a scrapbook from your year.
Stalk yourself on Facebook back to August and save every photo that makes you smile. Print out the photos at home or order them from CVS or Shutterfly. Making a scrapbook not only allows you to reminisce on all of your amazing and hilarious memories from the year, but it also allows you to be creative and kill some time. Go to a craft store and buy cute stickers so that you can decorate the book. Make it something personal and sweet that you can keep for years to come.
2. Exercise.
Go for a run or, if you’re like me, teach yourself to run. If you’re really like me and hate running altogether, find some new workouts online that look fun to you or pop in an old workout video. Find what works for you and enjoy it.
3. Go through old drawers and see what you find.
You never know what you’ll find when you dig up your bedroom. You might find drawings from second grade, poems from middle school, or pictures from high school. You might even find some ancient technology like a GameBoy or a CD player. Tear up your room and get ready to laugh and rediscover memories that you forgot that you had.
4. Try to follow (and successfully make) a few recipes from Tasty or Buzzfeed videos.
Everyone watches them, but nobody has the time or skills to try them. Challenge yourself and prepare a dinner or dessert surprise for your family. You know that you’ve been dying to try it.
5. Go through your high school yearbook.
You won’t believe how entertaining this can be. It can take hours to go through your yearbook and you’ll crack up at all of the things that your friends, and even you, wrote. Stumble upon some ridiculous yearbook quotes, some sweet messages that your friends wrote in your yearbook, and some teachers who you loved, but haven’t thought about for a while.
6. Start a new show with a friend.
Ask your friends if anyone wants to start a little "book club" for a show with you. You can agree to watch one or two episodes each day and spend hours discussing thoughts and predictions about the show. Watching too much television doesn’t seem as bad when you have someone to do it with.
7. Put on loud music throughout the house.
It’s hard to feel alone when music fills your entire home. Having music on in the background of whatever you’re doing is a good way to fill the empty space and give your life a little more excitement.
8. Take a bubble bath.
I know you have probably done more than enough relaxing this week, but naps and TV are not exactly soothing. Take a hot bath with lots of bubbles, dim lights, and a playlist of your favorite songs.
9. Embrace how weird you are.
You’re all alone – no one can watch you or even see you, so feel free to do whatever you want. Do cartwheels in your living room and lick the bowl of brownie batter. Just enjoy your home, your stress-free life, and yourself.
