9 Things All Pitt Football Fans Know to Be True

1. The struggle of the commute to and from home football games.

True Pitt football fans are up and at am early on Saturday morning of game day. Instead of having the luxury of a nice stroll to an on campus football field, we get to jump onto a big yellow school bus and commute 10-15 minutes to Heinz field (and you have to be prompt to assure a lower level wrist band to root on your Panthers).

2. Dealing with faux Panther fans who leave after the third-quarter tradition of Sweet Caroline.

I mean, come on now. Will one more quarter really kill you? **note that our last three games came down to the wire**

3. The best day of your life was when Steve Pederson got fired.

Good riddance to a man who changed our colors, ruined our school song, and took our stadium away from us. We love the Pete and are glad to be in the ACC, but we don't hate to watch you leave. Sincerely, every Panther fan ever.

4. How happy you were when you found out Pitt brought the script logo back.

Although it’s now Vegas gold and navy, as opposed to royal blue and mustard yellow, our script logo is still near to dear to our hearts and we’re thankful to be sporting it to this day.

5. The heartbreak of watching our very own James Conner tear his ACL

.......and it doesn’t help that it was against Youngstown State. Prayers that he’ll be back for the national title that we’re taking this year.

6. The overwhelming joy of seeing the Victory Lights.

Lights will guide you home.

7. 13-9 being engraved in your mind forever.


On the 100th edition of the Backyard Brawl on December 1, 2007, Pitt upset WVU AT West Virginia, knocking them out of the BCS National Championship Game. That must’ve stung. "In the Backyard Brawl, anything can happen, baby."

8. Fearing that Pat Narduzzi will be offered another coaching job and leave Pitt.

We've lost a coach...or two.....before and we love Narduzzi and everything he brings to our team, the Panther Pitt, and our University as a whole. Narduzzi's just like...

9. The excitement that’s already building for the 2016 game against PSU.

The first time we see Penn State since 2000—Panthers are ready to hunt some Nittany Lions on our home turf.
