9 Things I Hope I Have In 10 Years

I've somehow managed to make it through two decades of my life. (Don't ask me how) If you're reading this, then you probably have too. But how does that cheesy quote go? It's not the years in your life- its the life in your years? Yeah, something like that. So what does 30 years old look like?! In ten years, I will be exactly 30 years old. *shivers at the thought* It's like at least one third of my life is over, if I would hypothetically live to be 90- and that's a big if.

Anyways, since a pretty young age, I've been plotting and scheming on all the awesome things I want/need in life. The Buddhist monk in me just wants peace and happiness, rightfully so. But, since we were randomly put on this materialistic Earth, we might as well play while we are here. However far of a reach these things are, the time will pass anyway, so I might as well set the goal and work my a** off to achieve it. Here are nine things I hope I have in 10 years:

1. To be traveling every year to new places.

Its no surprise that the Earth is a beautiful place, but its MASSIVE. With all of the landmarks to see, and small cafe's to discover, traveling should be an integral part of life. My philosophy is to travel to as many as places as humanely possible, and learn about as many cultures as I can.

2. Own a yacht (or a very large and fancy boat).

Hear me out on this one. There is something about the ocean that completely fascinates me. It's breathtaking and is to be feared for how vast it is. But what is better than sailing on the seas with a luxury yacht, drinks in your hand, and people that make you happy? Not much. Being able to go places by boat is bad ass, and travel wise- its not as stressful as cramming yourself in a small airplane cabin. No matter how expensive, its possible.

3. Own my own businesses.

Maybe you want to work a nine to five job, and maybe you don't. To each their own. Personally, I get bored way too easily to sit at a desk and work for someone else. Owning your own business is a difficult and lengthy process, but once the dust settles, you're left with an awesome vehicle of time freedom and unlimited income. Its a never ending process, but its worth every second. Whether its in retail, real estate, tech, or all of the above, I will own my own businesses.

4. A hot body.

Yeah, no point in being 30 and not loving the way you look. Here's the problem: Most people "give up" per say, after a certain point. But there are plenty of hot 30-year-olds that have proved age doesn't matter. Being fit and healthy is a vital part of happiness and confidence anyways, so its not something you should ignore.

5. A partner that doesn't cause drama.

Being single is the new married. Or at least in my eyes it is. Often times, our young and vibrant selves are seeking that deep and special kind of love. Here is a secret: You can have a wonderfully awesome, powerful, passionate and fun connection with someone and not have a ring on your finger. Plus, marriage is expensive , and that yacht isn't going to pay for itself....

6. Own the comfiest mattress that money can buy.

One of the most wise quotes I've ever heard is, "Invest in your shoes and your bed because if you're not in one, you're in the other." As a college student, I currently own a semi comfortable full sized bed. Not bad, but definitely not a cloud experience. A simple Google search can point you in the right direction to the comfiest, most luxurious and high end mattress makers in the world. The only problem? One of these mattresses probably cost more than all of the mattresses in my house combined. No worries, my college student self won't die without it right now, but the older I get the more interested in spoiling myself I'll become. Until then, Ill keep dreaming about that perfect mattress as my head hits the pillow.

7. A strong network of friends/family/colleagues.

Its no surprise that who you surround yourself with is who you become. The happier, healthier, wealthier, and wiser people you associate with are, the happier, healthier, wealthier and wiser you will be. The only thing we have is the seven something billion people put on this Earth with us; in 10 years I am sitting on a beach drinking mimosas with my best friend from college as we wait for music to play so we can start dancing.

8. My sanity

The more your world grows, the more pressure grows on you. As little children, we happily attend birthday parties and have show in tell during classroom. Then all of a sudden you're in high school studying for your SAT's, stressing over the college you're going to get into. Senior year of college is here, and you're suddenly left trying to find a job and pay of your loan debt. The next time I blink my eyes, I'll be 30 years old, asking where the time went.

9. To love. Not a person, but all things.

Love is listening to a song that makes you happy to be alive. Love is watching a baby trying to dance and wiggle its body out of pure happiness as everyone around them watches with joy. Love is paying for someones coffee in front of you and wishing them a wonderful day. Love is having a genuine conversation with the cashier at the grocery store and leaving his/her day a little brighter then before you came across them. Love is walking across the leaves in the Fall and realizing how beautiful and perfect nature is. Love is around us, everywhere, all the time. We just have to be open to giving it and receiving it.

Our goal is this world should be open-mindedness and growth, as clishe as it sounds. No matter if you're 15, 24, 30, or 60 years old, go through your day with love and passion. Expand your bright spots and shatter your negative emotions by choosing to own every day.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
