Being in college is full of adventure, freedom, and amazing memories. With that, there are definitely moments when you wish some of the home-life advantages came along with you to college.
1. Your family. There is nothing like the company of your family no matter what mood you’re in. As you adjust to being back home you become more aware of the goofy things your dad says and the little acts of kindness your mom does; something you didn’t think too much of when you lived at home.
2. Home made meals. Nothing beats coming down stairs to a meal already made and the food always on point. These meals are so necessary you’ve even thought about ways you can have access to home made meals 24/7: bring your mom to school with you, have the meals sent somehow…
3. Not having to wear shoes everywhere. Plus having to walk down the hall to use the bathroom you have to remember to slip on a pair of shoes because going barefoot would be a crime. You know you’ve fully adapted to wearing shoes everywhere when you climb into bed still wearing them.
4. Having your pet around. Days where you miss your furry friend are days when you think you can be the one to invent a way to text your dog, cat, bird, horse(?). You will also never meet someone that gets as excited as they do whenever you come home.
5. Having everything at your disposable. Not having to think about buying groceries or doing laundry is the greatest feeling but once you’re back at school, all those mindsets change.
6. Name brand toilet paper. We get the school needs to buy enough to cover every bathroom on campus but is there anyway to make it a little thicker…?
7. Un-lofted beds. At home slipping into bed is the greatest feeling but at school having to spot where to jump in order to land in your bed, or, better yet having to climb up to bed isn’t close to ‘greatest’.
8. Balanced diet. The worst is looking down at your plate in the dinning hall and realizing 75% of the food you picked up is a carb. Once again realizing homemade meals is where it’s at.
9. Strong WiFi. Gone are the days when you didn’t have to type your ID number and password into the college WiFi account. For obvious reasons, the WiFi is stronger at home and there is no greater feeling than fast Internet when trying to look something up.
