8 Ways To Prepare For "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child"

It's time to go back to Hogwarts.

8 Ways To Prepare For "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child"
ComingSoon

One of the most exciting things that's happening this summer is the release of the eighth installment of the "Harry Potter" series: "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." Different from the last seven books, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is written as a play and instead of being turned into a movie, it's currently running as a play in London. If you're like me, a huge fan of "Harry Potter," the release of an eighth "Harry Potter" story is exceptionally exciting and like with all the all the other books, the waiting is the worst part. Since it doesn't come out until July 31st, here are some things you can do to fill the time and prepare for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."

1. Re-read the books

No matter how many times you've read them, the books never get old. Re-reading them will re-familiarize you with all the adventures and characters.

2. Watch the movies

Though usually the books are better than the movies, "Harry Potter" is an exception; the books and movies are both amazing!

3. Podcasts

There are tons of podcasts devoted to Harry Potter! If you're looking for some about "Cursed Child," there are ones with spoilers and ones without so either way you can hear all about the play even if you can't get to London to see it.

4. Watch "A Very Potter Musical"

Both "A Very Potter Musical" and "A Very Potter Sequel" are available on YouTube and both are hilarious. The musical version of "Harry Potter" is so funny and very entertaining. And if you're a "Glee" fan, the actor who played Blaine plays Harry in the musical.

5. Read fan fiction

Fan fictions are always very interesting and though sometime they're so outlandish, they're always entertaining and interesting to think about.

6. Write fan fiction

Writing fan fiction gives you a chance to use your imagination and create more storylines you would want to read.

7. "Harry Potter" video games

As opposed to writing or reading "Harry Potter," playing the video game lets you feel like you're in it. It literally gives you the rush of playing Quidditch IRL.

8. Just mark your calendar and wait for July 31st

July 31st also happens to be Harry Potter's B-Day, so there's even more reason to celebrate!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
