8 Times I Should Have Thanked My Dad

I tell you I love you and I say thank you a lot, but I didn’t say it enough

8 Times I Should Have Thanked My Dad
Taylor Rogman

For all the times I should have said thank you and I didn’t. These are just a few examples of the many many moments over the past 18 years that you were the best dad in the world.

1. When you taught me to be strong.

You always told me to “be the best person I could be.” I always rolled my eyes and shook my head when you said this, but now I know just how helpful that phrase was. It’s kept me calm when I was upset and it’s taught me to always be the better person.

2. When you never gave up.

Even when I made you mad and even when we fought, you never walked away. I am forever grateful for your unconditional love and for never giving up on me when times were tough.

3. When you were my number one friend.

You pushed me to be strong willed in my sports and to never give up. You were there for every recital, competition, tournament, and I should have thanked you for being there.

4. When you showed me tough love.

When you told me I couldn’t go out one night or when you didn’t approve of my outfit. I was so upset then, but now I understand how beneficial it was.

5. When you helped me for hours.

I remember those nights at the kitchen table doing homework for hours. Crying over math homework and when you didn’t let me go to bed until I finished, I was angry. Now I know that you were doing what was best, and when I got that A+, I knew it was worth it.

6. When you showed me that me heart never had to grow up.

Between the classic “Dad jokes,” silly games we played, and the way we would scream at the top of our lungs on the Disney World rollercoasters, I knew sometimes its okay not to grow up completely. You truly are an example of “kid at heart”.

7. When you taught me about faith.

You gave me the opportunity to learn about God’s grace and the undying love that He gives. You led me into the church, you prayed with me, you showed me how to be a good Christian and you were a great example of living for Him.

8. When you were just, you.

I cannot thank you enough for being my dad and always loving me. Even though I don’t say it enough, thank you for everything. I love you always.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
